A few weeks ago I hit the button on my answering machine. It's the captain of the team, we play that night. He says that he has a few players that are close to going up in handicap & he suggests that we get together AFTER the match & ALTER the sheet to help BOTH of our teams. I didn't return his call, but before play began, I asked him how I explain to my players that they are paying $6 to play pool, that they are going to get their asses kicked & I AM GOING TO HELP THE OTHER TEAM DO IT? End of story. NO WAY.Last week our teams meet again. I am a strong 5, even at my advanced age. I got beat by another 5 (4 games) in 6 innings & one of those innings is an out & out saftey. I had to talk to the league operator today & mentioned that I don't get beat like that from 6s or 7s. She grabs the score sheet & tells me that the innings on both sheets match AT SIXTEEN. What's more 2 other scores have been changed. I AM F>>>>>> pissed. Should I call her back & play the recording, from my answering machine?...JER

She's probably in on it and playing stupid.

God knows i've been suspicious of it for a while now with our league op.

I would call her and ask to go see the score sheet and let her listen to the voice mail.

I'd be totally ripped if the sheets were tampered with sometime after you signed them. Ask to have them corrected at the minimum and try to find out when they were changed.

Jer,
If I were you, I would inform Mary D. of all the facts and let her take the appropriate actions. Tell her about the voice mail and if she wants to hear it, let her. By doing it this way, you absolve yourself from and accusations of making sh$$t up. Like they say: "just the facts".

Yes, you should play the message to her so she can kick the idiot out of the league!!!!!! No excuse for the lack of integrity in this sport. I see it all the time. Do the right thing.

No kidding. Wowzers. That would have me some kinda hot.

Do all you can do to get this cheating POS out of your league.

APA Cheating

I would email the League Operator and the National APA office and tell them about the message left and the fact that the score sheets were changed. I don't know about your League Operator but I guarntee you the National APA office will take immediate action. Some one in the League Operator's office had to change your sheet to get them to match (assuming you mailed in your sheet). The National APA office will not tolerate any cheating of any kind and will throw out at least the Captain of the cheating team if not all of the team.

Jerry, I am a firm believer that you must report the problems to your league operator. If as others have said she is involved this will expose her, and then you will have to take the next step and report the situation to the APA Headquarters.

Like it or not if you are presented with something like this you must take action. Because if you do nothing you are also guilty, by association and you are letting your people down which is inexcusable.

He should be kicked out of the league for being dumb enough to leave a message.

Lol, hell yea. What kind of moron out right cheats, asks the other team to help him cheat and then leaves a freakin message proving he is an ass clown! What a freakin dick! He is probably related to a guy who robbed a 7-11 with his work uniform and name tag on! Let the LO, National office, and everyone in town know about this dillweed. Ok, Im done ranting now.........

hell yes, spill the beans
i played in my first AND LAST apa league over the winter
nothing but whining, pissing & moaning over scoring and handicaps
very little good sportsmanship displayed, if any

it seemed the only other person besides me , in a 10 team league, that just wanted to shoot pool and have some fun, was charlie hahn <spellcheck>
BCA for me from now on

I quit league in Galesburg because of this kind of crap. If you have any power in APA to make it stop then do it.

One of the posts mentioned you mailing your sheet in. Does that mean that the league operator, or someone in that office changed the sheet you mailed in? If it does then you need to start copying your sheet before you mail it and you need to contact the national office.

Do what you need to do to make this practice stop.

I am with them

Ask to see the original sheet and highlight where it was changed. Play the recording for the LO. Remember, the league's integrity depends on each player's integrity in the league.

When league's stop punishing players that get better, this kind of bullshit will stop. This is just one reason, out of a few, that I am in favor of 90% handicap leagues and not a 100% handicap.

Kind of OT I guess, but what does a 90% vs. 100% handicap league mean?
