Nickname for Cliff

Personally I like cliff and like watching him play. If I loaned him money(and I have) I wouldn't really expect to get it back ( it's that way with lots of folks i know) I give it because I want to, not because they "fooled me" into doing it. There may be some time that I need a little help ya know?

Will you be at the Galveston Tournament? I would like to "look" you up. Please send me your photo so I can know what you look like and catch you opening up the Texas size wallet.

i didnt lose anything when you dump people long enough you should expect to have to live up to it, for those offended you need to lighten up

Guilty till proven innocent after all thses years just seems a bit insane. Besides, most around here wouldn't rcognize a dump if t bit them on the ankle!!!

I have been involved with several matches with Cliff and I am unaware of him ever losing on purpose. I have been around pool for about 25 years and I do not think dumping in money matches happens nearly as much as people that lost money betting the side say it does. I would bet most of the actual dumping does not occur at the higher levels of the game, most people that are really good at anything would rather wrestle a live crocodile than lose.

Remember what Ronnie Allen says "Dumpin it and Doggin it look the same"

:D Cliff gives up weight better than anyone who has ever lived, but he actually "Bites" (borrows money) even better than he plays so that will explain my nickname. No one is even close to his biting ability. :D :p :D

I agree. He is the "Bite-inator". He is Bite-elicious!

But I do like "Tuesday', I enjoy the subtlety (sp?).

Interesting thread. You know, the hitch may go away, I would lay off the physical part, it could happen to anyone and something Cliff cannot control at this time. (Although it's tough to watch). But the bite is a talent he honed over many years and should be celebrated.

Could somebody explain what the "hitch" is? I haven't seen Cliff in a couple years in person. Last time, I think, was summer 2006 in Maryland in a gambling match. Poor fellow was playing with a borrowed cue that was warped, but he still stepped up to the plate to give some action, always spotting the other person. Cliffie Baby can't get a game playing EVEN anymore.

he developed quite a long pause in his stroke

Cliff always had a very slight hitch in his stoke just before coming thru the ball but he hurt his back/shoulder a couple years ago and the hitch has since become a maybe full second (or at least a half second) pause. Pretty sick for a fan of Cliff's old stroke to see....... It's gross!

Cisero Murphy had a very similar long pause at the top of his stroke and a little wind up before following through. Weirdest looking stroke ever, BUT.....he never missed a ball! :grin-square:

The problem is, Cliff does... LOL

I did not know that. I had not seen Cliff play in a few years.

I still admire his gamble in that he always seem to give up weight; in fact, he has to give up weight in order to get played when it comes to one-pocket.

Thanks for the explanation!

Here's a Cliff pic (depicted on the right) posing with two other action men.
