I am watching Ervolino vs Strickland right now and I am listening to Danny and Billy, well Billy is my favorite and I also really like Jimmy Mataya and his color. Who is your favorite?

In no particular order, I like these guys:

Jerry Forsyth, Grady Mathews, Billy Incardona, Danny DiLiberto, Jimmy Wych, Allen Hopkins, and Buddy Hall.

Honorable mention goes to Joey A and Jay Helfert, though I haven't had the privilege to hear them as much as the above-referenced ones.

I think each one adds something a little different to the flavor of the broadcasts they partake in. I love Buddy's cackle, Grady's stories, Billy's strategies, Jerry's wisdom of pool on a global scale, Jimmy's detailed descriptions of shots, Danny's opinions, and Allen's knowledge sharing.

I would much rather listen to these guys than those who are picked off the rail to fill in the dead time and have not much worthy to contribute. :o

Dang, I forgot all about my buddy Jerry, I hope he does not get pissed at me, he owes me dinner and cheesecake!

Jerry Forsyth was one of the first commentators I ever heard and actually listened to. LOL!

I'll never forget it. My boyfriend and I were surfing the TV and came across a pool show. He was going to keep surfing, and I said, "No, wait. Let's listen for a spell." [Though he played pool his entire life, he hates watching it on TV for some reason.]

So we began to watch this world pool match, maybe Mosconi Cup, but I can't remember. This English dude was describing the shots, and his voice was so animated. I absolutely loved it, and so did my boyfriend. We were then hooked. The English dude's sidekick, though, is who I adored. He had such knowledge of the game, as well as the players themselves, and then that beautiful Southern accent. The two of them complemented each other. It was the best pool I had ever watched, bar none.

Years later, my boyfiriend and I were at a pool tournament in Philly, eating breakfast in the hotel, and we were joined by a media guy with a camera, a friend of my boyfriend's. I told him about how much I had enjoyed that match on TV, especially the guy with the Southern accent. He paused for a moment and then said, "Well, that was me." :o

That was the first time I met Jerry Forsyth!

All of the commentators listed do a great job at commentary and each person has their own unique style.

Unfortunately, I have to take the politician's route and say that they're all great and that I like each of them for what they bring individually to the booth.

It's kind of like what is your favorite music or favorite singer. It's hard to pick just one if you enjoy the uniqueness of each person's performance.

JoeyA

Too hard to pick, honestly. I like Billy, Grady and Jimmy... too hard to pick for me. I voted for Grady just as a random vote. Billy, Grady and Pretty Boy Floyd can't be beat.

Put JoeyA in the box and I think he can hang with anyone on that list for sure.

I would like to see Joey in the booth with Jimmy Mataya, haha, that would funny stuff. :grin-square:

You can't beat Bill, some others have an equal level of knowledge, but no other communicates it as well. Danny also is good, but he goofs around too much. Bill and Danny are without doubt the best combination. Billy and Grady are also pretty good together when they aren't bickering.

Grady Mathews is the best, as is Billy Incardona. John DiToro is another person that would do well in the booth with anybody.

Where did I go, for goodness sake?

I doth protest. What happened to me, the Beard? The 1 pkt match with Jimmy Fusco and Jimmy Rempe in the Philly legends tourn. was accu-stats best seller for years.

I didnt do a lot of 'em, but those that I did, as Spencer Tracy once said to Katherine Hepburn, "Aint much there, but what is, is cherse (choice).

Humbly yours, the Beard

Sorry Freddy, you know we love ya bud. I just posted up the guys that have been featured on Accustats the most, I could be missing some others too but the poll only allows for 10 people. :o

I think years from now we may be lucky enough to throw Jeremy Jones in there. He did a really good job at Galveston

I voted Jim Rempe myself. He seldom does it so I went safe. Its really tied between Danny, Grady, and Billy. They all do very well.

Grady is my pick. IMO the 'Howard Cosell" of the Pool Commentators.

Danny D is a very close 2nd.

Both have the voice that is very recognizable and so intelligent about the game and able to convey to all levels of players what is happening on the table.

There is a new breed of commentator on the internet streams. So far, there are only a few that would even be considered 'honorable mentions'.

Mostly the Stream commentators are only as good as the guest commentators like Jeremy Jones and Nick Varner.

I, for one, like the bickering......some of the most hilarious moments I've experienced with the Accu-stats tapes is when they are getting on each other's cases.........

I went with Danny D.

Billy was a close second and Grady a close third. I actually like all three together.

Had to vote Mataya

Not only does he know the game and amke it come to life he has the background stories to go with it. For entertainment purposes I think hes a hoot and good at the serious side as well.

If we arent giggling a little though, its a little too serious for me
