I was in the 82nd airborne infantry...no combat. I joined at 17 had to have my mom sign me up. lol
My father was in Navy and was in one of the earliest pre-SEALS tactical units. Unfortunately he was medically discharged and could not continue his military career. One of the most memorable moments of my young life was standing at the mobile Vietnam Wall War Memorial that traveled around the country. I saw my father staring at each piece of the wall for countless minutes. After about 15 minutes I saw my father cry for the first time in my life. He had found several friends' names on the wall, including some that he did not know had been killed. My father passed away in October last year, always despising the fact that he had been medically discharged while so many of his "brothers" went to fight and die. He wouldn't talk about it, but I knew that ate at his insides for his entire life. Thank you to all of our soldiers and veterans, for all that you do and have given. Thank you dad, miss ya and love ya buddy.
