Why only 38 or 39 players entered the $7,000 added Seminole Tournament in GA. this past weekend? Cut off was 64. A week and a half ago they said it was almost full. I don't get it. Johnnyt

Not sure Johnny, but for dam sure if I was around those parts I would have entered. Thats a pretty large amount added for only 40ish players to show up!

About half the field cashed in too. Adding $2500 get's you a 128 players in a flash of a fart in the Midwest. I think the weather was getting nice and it was just a bad weekend to spend indoors.

I'm guessing the $150 entry may have played a part. That's gonna eliminate the bangers, especially considering all the top-flight talent you knew would be there.

Maybe they said ?

It was almost FULL to create a sense of urgentcy and get more to sign up.

The $150 entry knocked out some players, did they have a calcutta?

whats crazy is that I know bunches and bunches of bangers that go spend more than half that on one night drinking at the bar!

Oh well I guess its better than having a tourney that has 30players with about 2,200 in it total with calcutta and only 3 places paid out! Which I thought was completely rediclous, I got 7th so who cares but all I could think about was how 4th place must have felt! I understand paying 3spots for those 5/10 dollar bar tourneys, but for a $50 buck entry and about another $30+ in quarters you figure they would pay at least 4 or 5 much less 1/4 of the field which is the norm for a $50 buy in.

sorry for the rant just had to get that off my chest,

A week and half prior to the tournament and they have 38+- players signed up is good. Maybe other tournaments got into the way... Better for the 38 players....How did you end up??

$150 for a $7000 added is a great deal unless it is a race to 3 single knockout. I don't get the low number of entries.

They said a week and a half before to tournament that only a few spots left. Only 38 played in tournament. Johnnyt

Bummer I wasn't able to watch more, all I can say, what a treat!!!
How strong was that field!!!
Our sport is really hurting along with everything else.
Hopefully the field will grow for the tournaments their providing the players.

I'm starting to believe that there are too many tournaments on the same dates. I know around the midwest we don't have anything for awhile then all of a sudden 4 tournaments will show up on the same weekend. There are so many options now that it is hard to pick where to go. Maybe if there was just one tournament in say a 6 hour area there would be a big turn out for an event with that kind of added money.

I don't think the amount of the entry is too bad considering the added money. Obviously $50-$75 is a little easier for all levels to spend, but hey, people spend $500 to play in pro events that they have no chance of winning just to say they played!

Just my opinion,
Sarah

Well, here is Vegas, at Andy Mercer Memorial, it was $200.00 entry Diamond Smart (7') table, winner break, race to 6 - 64 players limit was full with waiting list.

Total prize fund was $16,500.00: Ernesto Dominguez snapped it off with $6000.00

Calcutta also toppled $21,580: with $6474 going to the whoever purchased Ernesto.

All the heavy hitters on the west coast were there... Maybe, some even skipped Seminole for this? Just an assumption.

We will be having the first West Coast Seminole Pro Tour event on Memorial Day weekend (May 29-31) in Los Angeles. I'm looking for a field of 80+ players. We'll see.

well....

There was a GSBT event just down the road that got 60 players...however it is amateur but still gets strong players. NC had a Jacoby event which got 10 players (also an open event). Down south most players look for the easiest field, cheapest entries, and they complain no matter what. I myself am taking a break from pool for now or I would have been there as I usually play all Seminole events in GA and NC.

It is sad that players don't enjoy playing against some of the best players in the US in such a great tour like the Seminole. It's like a mini US Open for a fraction of the cost. We are saturated with tours here including GSBT, Viking, SE Open, Jacoby Carolina, and that doesn't include all the tours in FL and others springing up like the North GA and some "pro" tour I recently saw a press release on here. Everyone wants to run a tour these days!! Or run a pool league. When you are a player and you see how hard it is to make it then it becomes a no-brainer to try and run a tour or league and have others pay you. A sad state for pool indeed.

Seminole events in NC and GA have averaged around 30-40. I'm sure they will do well in other parts of the country.
