Corey we need to give John a little consideration because of his age and that he's been away from this area for quite some time. I don't think they even have streets where he lives now.

I was looking forward to seeing you at the one pocket tournament at HB. But now it seems questionable if they will even have it. I might see you in Arizona for your match. Good luck there.

I do understand your point, and it is very valid. However, I do not live in California and coming out to this tournament costs me a lot of extra money. Therefore I made a personal choice to not come... many people stating that they are still attending this event live in CA. I'm sure many pros that do not live in CA will still attend (and I hope they do)... however I am far from a pro level player (not even close). I spoke with Gerry Mahen (Seminole Pro Tour Director) earlier today explaining the situation and he understood completely.
I have been a very strong supporter of pool on the west coast for quite some time. Here in Arizona we have the Arizona Desert Classic Tour (DCT) run by Dennis Orender... and I attend every event. I have participated in numerous CA/NV tournaments over the years as well (the Swanee, Reno Open, the old Pechauer events, and even the old Labor Day tourney at Shooter's in Riverside when my work schedule allowed). I do as much as I can to support pool on the west coast (even as I live in Arizona) as my work schedule allows and numerous people here on this forum can vouch for that.
I wish the Seminole Pro Tour nothing but success and I truly do hope they expand permanently to the west coast.

I went there to practice today before the tournament. Yes, the cloth is red, but it took me only 5 minutes to get over it. Nothing you think about during play.
The hard part is the pocket size. The tightest I have ever played on.
I am sure you guys will see some surprising misses on the live stream tomorrow.

Thanks Frank, I am getting a little senile about streets and such. I live on a river, but there is a street address. No neighbors though and that's a good thing.

I wore a bright red shirt here today to celebrate the new red cloth and fabulous chalk, I been here all day.
The color is exactly the same as the 7 ball, it's brutal to see the side if it. A couple times the 5 looked yellow for a second-one of those mind trick things I think. The problem isn't the cloth it played fine it's the chalk, there is more red pigment in one piece of it than the blood of 6 elephants. It's all over the balls. My hands, cue, cloths, hair and and other unmentionable places without a doubt, this place will be the red spot on google earth in a few months, I hope the switch to regular chalk.
This red chalk is a legit weapon of mass distuction, it's possible to do harm with it it's so nasty and red, Im not sure why it's legal, or docent have a warning label.
The tables look ok I suppose.....

I wonder if there will be chalk police outside the tournament during regular open play at HB. If I can't use my BD there it's a problem for me.

Eric, you forgot mention that you also wore red shoes.
How right you are about the red chalk. After each match with my hands all red I could be mistaken for a mass murderer. That stuff will not wash off like the blue chalk. Shucks now my keyboard is all red.
But all in all the tables are not bad to play on.
Hence the reason my first time using it was my last time using it. The local cue repair person is going to make out like a bandit cleaning shafts after this event.
They must have gotten a super deep discount on the cloth. UGH!

That red cloth is the best thing to happen to that tournament since bottled beer . . . for the smart players!
I have seen it in every form of competition I have been in. Dirt tracking, people whine mightily about too much dust or too much mud or holes and ruts in the track. Big deal, we are all driving on the same track. Write off 19 out of 20 of the whiners, they have already beaten themselves.
"Damn, the wind is howling and it's raining hard enough to float Noah's ark! Never seen rain like this in my seventy-seven years." Write off the people complaining about conditions at the benchrest matches too, they have already beaten themselves.
How many people are going to take one look at that red cloth and chalk and start complaining? That is how many people the players there to win won't have to beat, they will beat themselves.
If I have to compete under different conditions than anyone else, then I have every reason to complain. If we are all competing under the same conditions and the conditions have half the people there complaining, so much the better for me! I like tough conditions that freak half the field. Makes winning much easier.
Change your mindset and that red cloth and chalk can be an advantage for you.

To me it makes no sense to put Red cloth on table in a club like setting=mostly bangers, but leave the tables with 4" pockets so most can't make 2 balls in a row=no fun=no play. Casual players want to make balls not look bad at the table in front of their friends. Johnnyt
