Would you say these are the top 8 players in the USA at this time? If you feel another player belongs there, would you bet on him against these 8?

1) SVB
2) Johnny Archer
3) Rodney Morris
4) Corey Duel
5) Dennis Hatch
6) Charlie Williams
7) Oscar Dominguez
8) John Schmidt

Well, first, you say IN the US. Mika lives in the US and would definitely be on that list for me. If you mean Americans, then you have to ask the question, are you talking about tournament play or gambling or all-around player. Because if you include gambling, i'm not sure Charlie Williams will make many lists.

PS: Johnny, we need to find you an avatar of a Diamond barbox and get that valley off of there!

American and tournament. Johnnyt

Too bad Donny Mills doesnt play in more tournaments. I get the feeling I might replace Charlie Williams with Donny, but since he's got his own gig going on and not much into traveling, we'll never know.

I'm not sure who I'd remove from that list (they are all great players) but IMO (and yes I am biased)... Danny Harriman belongs in there somewhere.

I think I would take Gabe Owen in a tournament over Charlie Williams, but its close. I have never really liked CW's game.

I think Hennessee could be in this spot also.

Earl needs to be on that list somewhere I believe.

everyone on that list beats earl for consistency.....were not talking about when he wakes up in perfect harmony with his beekeeper suit, ass weights, and the planets and stars and wins a big tourney.....

day in day out imop Earl doesn't replace no one....i love Earl but were not talking about if we were playing for the world champs and had the toughest shot imaginable list of players for the run out in 9 ball.

just sayin.....

Greyghost I usually agree with your post but everyone on that list does not beat Earl with or without a$$weights.Maybe the top half,They dont beat Scott Frost either

My thought's exactly.. Mills is very underrated but like you said he doesn't play as many tournaments. Nicest pool player I have ever talked to as well.

9 Ball only John or all-around?

If it's 9B, Earl needs consideration, as does Shannon Daulton

If it's all-around, Shannon Daulton, Allen Hopkins, Larry Nevel, Jeremy Jones & Danny Harriman should also be considered.

Like it or not, Charlie belongs on that list. He's flown under the radar in the last 18 months, knocking off world beaters on a regular basis. He may not finish in the top 3, but he has high finishes on a more consistent basis than most.

As far as the top 10-12 candidates mentioned thus far, Charlie outranks all but 2 of them in prize money won so far this year.

I think Johnny T had it right on the money.
