"And while I appreciate having business people who are interested in helping...I believe that the Board should be made of people who have a vested interest in keeping the organization running. Use business people on an Advisory Panel...not as Board members. They don't know the history and they don't have full comprehension of the difficulties and intricacies of the WPBA."
I would like to apologize publicly to Stu Mattana (SJM) for this statement...because I didn't mean for it to include him in any way, shape, or form. When I think of Stu (who I had the pleasure of serving on the Board with for a year)...I think of him as a WPBA family member...not just a random business member. Stu has more WPBA history and knowledge tucked away inside his head than most of the player membership. He is more than qualified to serve the organization as a Board member...and if I had to choose someone to be on the Board...he would be at the top of my list.
I am not here to extol the virtues of Stu...as has been done, and deservedly so, many times in the past here on AZB. My purpose is to apologize sincerely to a friend whose feelings I may have hurt with my careless choice of words. I will be apologizing again in person when I have the chance...but I wanted everyone and anyone in the industry to know that when I said what I said...it wasn't meant to include Stu...who I have the utmost respect for, and who I care about as a friend.
