My good friend and Pro Player Robb Saez has contacted me. He has told me he needs alot of help to get to the events he wants to compete in this year. He asked me if I new anyone that has products or an organization who would be interested in helping him by being sponsers. I figured the best way to get the news out there is of course the AZ Forums.

Robb tells me he needs lodging, entry fees, and airfare(to some) to get to these events. His schedule consists of many high profile world class events. To sponser Robb would give anyone fantastic exposure. Wether it is wearing patches or shirts or displaying informational flyers could prove to be a great way to get the news out to the people that love the game. Plus Robb does some commentary on the live streams and I will suggest to him to mention the sponsers when he is in the booth. Robb is a great player and I hope he can make it to these events. Below is his contact info, his intended schedule, and a list of accomplishments. Contact him not me to work out details of anything you want to do. All I can do is just give you the same info that you see here. Thank You very much for your interest.

Here is his schedule;

Sept 4-5 Raxx billiards in West Hempstead NY an 8000 added Seminole Tour Event

Oct 17-23 U S Open 9-ball in Chesapeak Va

Oct 23-24 Strokers Billiards in Palm Harbor Fla a 7000 added Seminole Tour Event

Nov 4-7 Steve Mizerak 50000 added Seminole Tour Final at Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood Fla

Nov 29-Dec6 Reno Open in reno Nevada

Dec 16-19 Turning Stone Casino 25000 added Joss Tour open event in Verona NY

Derby City Classic dates to be added soon

Valley Forge Super Billiard Expo

More events will be added to Robb's schedule when they become available and fit his timeline.

These are the major events Robb is planning to attend. He of course will be going to other events
to fill in the gaps when something can work for his timing and current commitments.

This is not the first time Robb has sought our support.

Perhaps playing pool for a living is not a good decision for him.

why

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

what was that for ? why do you do things like that ?

it is soooo negative !

Please take it off.

after the way I saw him act while gambling at the derby last year, I say good luck to him.

Hmmmm...perhaps. ;)

He'd be one of the last "pro's" that I would ever consider helping out or sponsoring.. I've seen his bad side more often than not.. He's not someone that I'd want to represent a product IMHO..

Here's a thought.. Get a job and support yourself first, then play pool..

I have priorities as many others do and most of us work for our living.

I'm just saying... He's a hot head too!

But Robb has matured a great deal !

There is ups and downs along the road of life. Robb has alot of good points as well as some bad moments. That goes for alot of us out there.

Just curious - why is Ashley and Melinda given such a welcome by AZ and funds to attend an event but Robb Saez is getting the cold shoulder?

Have u met Robb? And they post on here.

True that
No kiddin'. He has the advantage of not everyone seeing him in person.

I met him while he was here for an IPT event and I actually wanted to fight him, And I was a spectator! I left the match cause I was so pissed.
Earls chlidish antics can actually be funny sometimes, not Robbs. He actually got pissed at the audeince for not clapping for him.

Id rather donate to Oscar or someone else more deserving. Theres plenty of poolplayers out there that need sponsorships that know how to act.

Does anybody recall how his ebay auction went?

IIRC, he was auctioning off sponsor space on his clothing for some upcoming tourneys...

I think for two reasons:

First, and probably most important, Melinda is not only a long time contributor here on AzB, she is a do-gooder of the highest order. She has unselfishly reached into her own pockets for AzB'ers in need on a number of occasions. Most recently, she took up the cause of Ashley who otherwise would not have been able to attend the Oklahoma tourney; and because of Melinda's appeal, Ashley went and did incredibly well. So when fate came knocking on Melinda's door, that she got an unexpected last-minue invite to the Open, some forum members decided to return a little niceness by sending her a little something to help with her expenses while there. No one more deserving, IMHO.

As for Ashley, I see that she is posting here and providing updates for us. She has been most gracious, obviously appreciative, and has stated that she looks forward to a time when she can repay the kindness by "paying it forward". I sense that she truly means it, and will one day.

Saying all that, it doesn't look like Robb Saez, by way of Zilla, is appealing for our dollars to pay his tourney expenses. As Zilla stated, he is hoping for some company sponsorship. By a number of reports, Robb has some behavioral issues which doesn't bode well for someone who is sponsorship hunting. He's not a worldbeater but he does have serious game. You never know, maybe if he works some on his personality problems and plays real well, someone might come a knocking.

Best,
Brian kc

You said that a lot more nicely than I would have...

(I'm not an *sshole, I just have "personality issues")

don't worry sir, i'm not giving them anything either.

both of those chicks you mentioned post here on az. and with this being the first time women are getting a chance to play in the open i think they're entitled to a little more support from the az crew than Robb.

i wish all 3 of them the best of luck, but to be honest, i can't afford to be giving money away right now.

just out of curiosity if i was trying to play in a few tournaments do you think Robb would shoot me some dough?

I don't think its all about the way Rob has acted in the past, I think its also the fact that AZers seem to enjoy supporting people who are regulars on this forum. Not people who only come on here when they have something to sell or want to get into the pockets of people somehow.

I know Rob and I have never had a problem with him and he has been nothing but polite and nice whenever I have seen him or hung out with him. Therefore I like to take people as I find them.

All I am saying here is there is obviously some people that have had bad experiences with him and also some who just want to support the regulars here on AZB. I am one of those people by the way. I don't agree with people only coming on here when they want something. AZers are kinda tight knit sometimes. JMO

I told Robb he should get on here because it is better to speak for himself.
He said he will work on that as soon as he can.

Bad idea oldzilla. We don't see eye to eye on anything. But I'll offer you some friendly advice anyway. Given his reputation he'll end up making the situation you started worse. The forums isn't the path to redemption it's the path to somewhere else. Talk is cheap. Only actions will make a difference.

Now i'm sure kickin chicken will be on to comment next as he seems to have a lot of free time on his hands and apparently.. well never mind.

Oddzilla, McDonalds is willing to sponsor rob, if he is willing to work about 30 hours a week and weekend mornings:thumbup:

Not true - Please see below the FIRST post below from Mary Rakin. She got her money from her first post. And she is not the first person nor the last to come on AZ and do so.

And I met Robb Saez in Vega$ two years ago and those who know me or read what I type - I am more critical of people than just about anyone. I talked to Robb for about a half an hour and he was intelligent and had a great view of how things are. He wasn't a phoney, which I liked and respected.

Also, on the point of attacking Robb's character or attitude. Someone offer $100 for every 'pro' that I can name that has a sponsor that has character issues, some much more severe that what people say about Robb and I'll have $2000 raised for him by the end of the day.

That would be tourneys.

Hi you guys! I finally joined Azbilliards! I am fairly new to this...

My name is Mary Rakin. I won the 2004 and 2007 Junior National Championships (missed 2005 and was runner-up in 2006) and I won the World Junior Championships in 2006 in Sydney, Australia and 2007 in Willigen, Germany. I recently won the BCAPL Women's Master 8 ball championships in Vegas and last year I took second in the Open Women's tournament. I also play on the newly reformed West Coast Women's Regional Tour that started up months ago. I won 2 out of 3 tournaments so far.

I come from a family of 6. We are known as the infamous "Rakin family." Many of you people heard of my older sister Michelle Rakin with her achievements and all. Everyone in my family plays pool.

I currently am a full-time Junior student at San Francisco State University majoring in Criminal Justice so I don't have many opportunities to play outside of California as much as I wanted to.

However, I recently qualified for the APA US Amatuers in Tampa, Florida and I am trying to raise money for my trip since all my expenses go to school and you know college students are broke =] just kidding, however, this one needs help. I want to challenge myself and see how it's like to play in a different atmosphere, since, like I said, I rarely play out of California now-a-days.

Anything will help me out with this trip. My main goal is to raise five hundred so hopefully I can reach that with your help.

Thank you and I hope I'll be able to get some help and meet new friends.

Sincerely,

Mary Rakin
