From Grady Mathews

Living in Colorado almost 30 years I had the chance to see you play some mighty impressive poo. those are great memories.
However every time I see your name somewhere I always think back on the night you rode the motorcycle from the Springs to Denver in that 0 degree temperature to play Jack Cooney.
my initial thought was, "that has to be either the toughest SOB I have ever seen or the craziest"!
I watched you play until 5 AM and then play ping pong until 9 AM. i also watched you win at both.
Keep scratching and clawing, dammit it is just your personality!!

Wow, what I'd give to have seen that.

We miss you in Colorado, Grady. Surprise us one of these days, OK?

A forum is not a friendly environment for professional-caliber pool players, whether you're a tournament soldier, a road agent, a Hall of Famer, or a legend. No matter how much the professional-caliber tries to contribute, there will be those who will go out of their way to cause hurt and/or anger. In fact, I believe this to be the sole reason that some people participate on a pool forum. Pool topics are only secondary, and to chop down a tournament soldier, a road agent, a Hall of Famer, or a legend, this is what brings them satisfaction, hidden behind their collective monitors from under the rocks in which they live.

About the professional player,
there is an air of freedom unconquerable.
The eyes seem to look on heights beyond our gaze.
It is the look of a spirit that can soar.

Even in his pictures, you can see it in the eyes of the Bonaparte.
It is the birthright of eagles.

Jennie, with respect (and you ARE a chick with brains), Grady has posted a very positive piece and everyone has responded in a friendly way so far. Please don't sent this in a negative direction.

Grady,

Great post, hopefully your slate is wiped clean with everyone and we can all enjoy you for the great champion that you are from this point forward!

Mike

Great post Grady. Now, with that out of the way, I think that it is only fitting that you and I should have first dibs on occupying the commentary booth. You might have to work out a deal with Charlie on that - but as player, I've accepted barbecued ribs as payment - and in this situation it will also be an accepted currency.

:)

I apologize, MikeM, to you if my post was interpreted as being negative. That was definitely not my intent, with all due respect. :)

Here's a hot chick in high heels for you! :grin-square:

Poo is what I play :o. Pool is what Grady plays .

Grady, if you really think you have lost some of your game let me remind you that MOST of the players on this forum don't amount to a wart on your a** when it comes to playing the game. As far as your knowledge goes, you've forgotten more than most of us will EVER KNOW.

Enjoy the rest of your life. You've earned it!!!

Always good to hear from you, Grady. I don't pay too much attention to the hubbub side of it all. I was just glad to hear of you, my friend. I've learned a great deal from you along the way, and was happy to have you in my home.
Jen & Keith... appreciated your intent. Regrettably, too true.
All the best to come.

Grady - when/where in KC? Would love to stop by and see you again.

Even when I don't like some of the things Grady posts, I still like Grady.

Hang in there partner.

For those who asked about Grady's appearance in KC:

Onll best wishes always Grady!

Grady,
Look at the responses from the members here. This is a pretty good cross section of pooldom. For every person who grates you, you have 25+ who consssider you a pool hero! None of us are perfect and everybody has said and done things we wish we could un-do. Such is life.

Relish in all these positive comments! And hurry back to the Accu-Stats booth if possible!

*Instead of the time honored "please send money" bite, I'm going to put the "please Grady, post more stories" bite on you, kind Professor!

Grady, I am glad to see a post from you that is 100% positive and classy. Age may have subtracted a smidgen from your pool game but you can still be a scholar and a gentleman!

Grady,

I hope to see you at the US Open in October and I wish you the best.......
