Mosconi Cup 2010 - Who would you pick?.

us open is not rack your own.

look how he did the last few years.

Chris good point and if there is a Fan Vote Donnie would be in the running, he is high enough in the rankings to be in there. Does anyone know if he really is worried enough about flying, for crossing the Atlantic to be a real problem for him? I have heard this before, but do not know first hand if it's even true.

One Time

Damn, no one wants to see Donny Mills voted on ??? hed be forced to travel by boat to europe lol.

I just hope Donny Snaps off the Open and ends all of this discussion and indecision... One time Mr. Mills, and I'm sure you can get a sponsor to book your cruise over seas...

I heard he wants to be a car when he grows up and thus is opposed to flying.

Team usa!!

I always get excited for the Mosconi Cup. Last year I was just tickled to death to see the new line up take it down. Oscar and Dennis played their hearts out and really gelled well with the other guys. And Boy did Dennis ever torture Neils... In any Case I think the core four guys to be picked are...

1) Johnny Archer
2) Rodney Morris
3) Shane Van Boening
4) Dennis Hatch

Archer and Morris are just about locked up on points, Shane is unconscious good sometimes and very intimidating to the opposing team. Dennis is bred for this event with the way he just lays it out there...

As for number 5, it's between...

5) (Corey, Donny, Stevie, Schmidt and Oscar)...

Really these guys left over are the best we have. Corey and Schmidt have everything it takes to play phenomenal. Donny is starting to really carve his way there, it's a shame the rest of the country really doesn't get to see him much, except for the open. Oscar played really well last year and is only getting better. And Stevie, who i've advocated for in the past, is more than Due. He's a great player and all the pro's respect him... I don't doubt a little southern swagger will shake up the Euro's a bit. Not to mention his ninja hair!

Whom ever gets picked, it'll be a tough fight for team USA as always. Personally I think team USA will win this one again. They've got such a strong basis, and if we pick any one of these guys for the fifth spot we're in more than good hands. Plus with Nick Varner at the helm, he'll be sure to prepare the guys properly and have them all focused for the event.

GO TEAM USA!!!

Tmc

Surely BRANDON must be SHUFFling along towards claiming the No5 spot.

He has the heart and would transplant it into the US team. His day will come - you heard it here first folks!

I only skimmed a couple pages of responses, but to the people who put Charlie Williams on their list, I have to respectfully disagree with you. I think Jay nailed it with Archer, Van Boening, Hatch, Deuel, and Morris. I cannot see replacing a single one of those guys with Charlie.

Yes...

I have to agree. Charlie I don't think makes the cut with the rest of the top four five potential players to make the team. Corey, Donny, Schmitty, and Stevie and so on... They just play straight up great.

While I agree that Charlie would not be my choice either for the last spot, his Mosconi Cup record is pretty good I think.

I certainly would not be shedding any tears for the Dragon. You are bound to have an off year every now and then. Thats why, I feel so strongly in letting your pool cue speak for its self! All the posturing, email campaigning & etc. just lets you know money is involved and capitalism is a driving factor when the old green back is involved!

I wonder if you made the korean dragon choose between that brief case he carries around and his pool cue which would he save????

My money is on the brief case. He can always call up predator for another cue! That guys a walking pool/self promoting machine! Just ask him at any event, I promise his resume news articles and biographical info can be produced for you at a moments notice and with the biggest smile because you asked!!!

i swear if that guy put as much energy into pool as he does business and making money! Efren would not like it!!!!

I heard over the weekend that Johnny Archer is offically the first man picked for Team USA. I cannot confirm that as Matchroom website hasn't been updated yet, but it came from a pretty reliable source in the UK. I haven't seen Johnny this weekend as we were at the WPBA event at Gwinnett, but when I do Thursday or Friday I'll see if he'll confirm that.

Mosconi away!

I would pretty much agree with this opinion, but I think the 5th should be Stevie or Donny. I don't recall Corey winning much lately, and I would not support Charlie, the last time I say him play on the team, he missed an easy 6 ball that sold the table out and lost the match. Sometimes a little new blood is good. Look at what Hatch did for the team last year!!!

Below is the link to the article that I have located on the Matchroom site about JA being the first confirmed player for Team USA in the 2010 Mosconi Cup. Unfortunately all it says about the remaining places is that the No.2 Ranked Player by the BCA will also be guaranteed a spot too. The article also states the remaining players will be announced during October.

Oscar,

Thank you for representing our country with pride, humility, enthusiasm and passion. You have nothing to explain. You earned your way onto that team. Anyone who knows you, knows how hard you work both in and out of the game. And you will not find a more honest and friendly player with your ability.

Will you be going to Turning Stone in December?

DJ

Just in case, you all should use your pool nicknames;

Jason "Mr. Cool" Klatt
Oscar "Mighty Mex" Dominguez
John "The Bad Rat" Morra

How about if they held a tournament to determine who made the team?

The Cup is a Matchroom competiton and they sure wouldn't do that, not saying it's a bad idea. However Matchroom want the most bang for their buck, they want the most well known players on both sides to ensure maximum sponsorship and TV Money etc.

While I think Chris Bartram's team selection would do very well, as Jay says, it just ain't going to happen. We can all speculate on who we think should be there, it's good reading. Whoever is picked we need to give them all the support we can, both here and in London, if possible. Europe are a very good team and York Hall is a very intimidating venue. I'd love for people just to congratulate those who are picked and wish them the best of luck. If you don't agree with the picks take it up with Matchroom after the Cup's been played and give them suggestions for next year. They will not change their selections because someone thinks this player or that player should have gone. Just My Opinion.
