JA Story, Hard to Believe.

Were sitting here in the hotel room at the Derby talking about movies before his plays today. JA and I rarely talk about pool, because that his job/business-were friends, not pool buddies.

So the topic of what movies we have seen and not seen came up in our conversation. Would believe the Johnny has never seen the Hustler from beginning to end in one sitting?? He's probably has see the whole movie over the years a few times but not all at once. Thinking about it Its clear to me that he wins more matches because while we(average players) are watching movies about pool, Johnny is playing pool, not wasteing his time watching movies.

Seriously I was surprised when he said that. He did see Color of $$ end to end, and Pool Hall junkies end to end.

Anyways I just thought that might be interest some people, its not a big thing but I was surprised.

HOUSE is his favorite TV show, I never saw it before, he has seen every episode about 10 times. And now I'm liking it.

I wanted to make a easy going happy post after all the drama and BS from yesterday. So this is my happy post.

One more thing, the TV show "Lie to Me" is great, I turned him on to that show. Its great and I think most pool players/gamblers/students of human moves would love it. I typically dont like new TV shows, Gunsmoke and Columbo have been my choice the past few months. But Lie to Me is real good, its not very realistic but still very entertaining.

PS: I dont post things about JA often and only with his permission. He thought that other pool junkies might be surprised like I was about the Hustler, so we just made this thread. He asked me to say that he appreciates all his fans too, since were making a thread-he wanted me to say so for him. He dosent post here cause he isnt much of a computer guy(another reason he wins more matches because he is playing while we are all typing). On that note were going down stairs and chopping them up. ;)

That is kinda odd, a poolplayer not watching through the best movie's pool has to offer, I guess he maybe a sitcom type!..........l0l

David Harcrow

Eric, tell JA to plant himself in a chair & watch that movie. Just can't call yourself a poolplayer & not have seen that movie all the way through.

Ok, here's a question I've always wondered...we (average players as you say) spend HOURS & HOURS watching accustat videos & live streams hoping to pick up little nuggets that will improve our game.

Did/does JA ever watch those same accustats looking for ways to improve his own game?

I'm curious if the pro's use those videos to their advantage and since you have a friendship with JS...maybe you can get an honest answer.

Shooting Gallery

Shooting Gallery. I've never seen mention of this pool movie on AZ.
It's not The Hustler or COM but not a bad pool movie IMO

I know that Niels Feijen has watched (read: studied) dozens of one-pocket videos, read many books and loves to discuss moves.

I'm pretty sure that a lot of the players who make their living out of playing pool spend a lot of time to learn as much as possible.

I tried to watch hustler end to end but I just couldn't do it...

Something about black and white that turns me off..

Anyways Lie to Me is one of the most entertaining shows I've had the pleasure of watching in a while, next to Dexter of course.

Tell JA maybe we can sit down together one night and watch that movie when he gets back home, because I haven't seen it either.

His choice of TV shows is pretty good with House and Lie To Me, next to NCIS, Supernatural and V of course.

Thats what I awalys thought and why I made this thread. It just dosent seem possible to be a player and have not seen THE movie.

I'm bad then. My wife bought the movie for me and I wasn't able to watch it in its entirety. Since then I haven't given it much thought to pick it up where I left off.

GB, I haven't missed an episode of Supernatural tho.
I hope they can find their way to making a Season 7.

Well.... I bet he's sat all the way through Caddyshack, The Legend of Bagger Vance, and Bobby Jones:Stroke of Genius.

Just sayin.

JA story

I have watched all of those movies. They are pretty good.
JA really should watch the "The Hustler" all the way threw.
It has some good scenes in it.
Especially with Jackie Gleason and Paul Newman in it.

As good as that movie is, as classic as it is, most people I know who have seen it a number of times all comment how the drama between Eddie and the girl gets old and they only watch certain pool scenes.

I'm not all that surprised that JA hasn't seen it all.

House

Okay, second time I heard someone mention watching House. Can't stand that arrogant bastard. Nobody in the real world acts like that, especially a doctor. I know it's a movie, but I just can't stand him. I would knock the living shit out of anyone that acted like that and I ain't violent. While I'm in the mood I also hate OJ Simpson, murdering bastard, although they now say he took the rap for his son!?!? Believable. I do like everyone on AZ though!!
