Ya know....SOME players just can't play at their best...on GAFF...junk, BS pool tables...and Shane hasn't been around long enough playing...to have brought out his best game on a junk pool table. Earl should have no problem adjusting to a REAL 5'x10'....and there is the problem...because Shane WON'T have to adjust his game then....all he has to do is play like normal. Like I said, yes...Earl DID beat Shane on a gaff table...but what's next....Shane BEATS Earl on a REAL 5'x10'...then...should they play a rematch on that junk piece of shit all over again? I'd concede that Earl is the best player between them both if Earl can beat Shane on a real pool table....and I LIKE Earl...I've even played him...and I think and feel he gets a lot of shit that he shouldn't have to put up with. MY problem is with the DAMN pool table they played on...it was junk yesterday...and it'll be junk tomorrow....so if ALL of you want to claim who the better player is....then at least SUPPORT them playing on a REAL pool table...that way they can BOTH bring out the best in each of their games!!!
In order to make that snooker converted pool table play like a real pool table...the pocket castings should have been changed...which would have required cutting down the length of the rails to fit the larger GC pocket castings...the snooker pocket castings are way to small in the throat of the pocket for playing pool.
The slate in the pocket shelves is way to deep...even deeper than Diamonds....which a lot of you complain about as being so bad. The rails needed to be rebuilt and calibrated to play correctly for a pool table. And the slates needed to be leveled and seamed right.
The pocket miter angles were all over the place...even to the point that they were different angles on BOTH sides of the corner pockets. Then on top of that, the miter angles were turned out so far that the points of the corner pockets were wider than 4 1/2"....NOT 4" like some of you want to believe, and by turning out the miter angles so far...any balls shot down the rails were NOT going to go in...therefore hindering an important skill of pocketing balls from BOTH players...to where NO ONE really got to watch the BEST game both players COULD have brought to this GAFF table.
The question that SHOULD be being asked....is WHY was THIS table picked to play this match on?????

Just thought I'd mention that I just talked to Greg yesterday, and we'll be starting the project of building 4 Diamond 5'x10' ProAms once I get a little time to stay at the factory for a little while. Two of the ProAms will have one piece 1" slate....while the last 2 will be fitted with one piece 30mm (1/3/16") thick slates. Greg wants to name the table the "WOW" Diamond..
from a pool players aspect....but from a mechanic's perspective....I thought "HOLY SHIT, who's going to move them in one piece....might be more appropriate...

PS. I talked to Shane, he told me he'd play Earl again on one of these 5'x10' Diamond ProAms with Pro cut pockets....and he told me to bet on him....because Earl had NO chance to beat him on a REAL 5'x10' pool table...with REAL pocket dementions!!!
They sure are fun to move aren't they! I am a table mechanic in Australia and had to clear a pool hall of 9 x one piece Dynamo tables. We winched them down one floor and set them up again in a room situated down a long single flight of stairs (no winch here). When they upgraded to Brunswicks I had to get them all out again. We took them out via the back door and down an even steeper set of stairs to a different street level. By the way, for 4 of them it was just me and one able friend! I am just glad that none of them had to be re-installed anywhere upstairs...so far. I would be happy to help you out RKC, it will have to be around May or June to fit in with when I am in Vegas...OR...you will just have to arrange for flights etc...LOL.
That table didn't beat Shane he missed a lot of very makeable balls on any table and Earl didn't miss very many period and it got into Shane's head. Shane is a champion and can beat anyone on any day and Earl is a champion also, I'm hoping they play again on a 9 footer and I know Earl will play.--Leonard

That one is to move the slate alone 5 x 10, moreover marble slabs for the kitchen guys. But as you know Glen, I like a challenge. If Diamond designed the table to compliment the OTLvise with internal structural features to marry up with an OTLVISE, moving them would be cake. But I suppose straight away we could pop off the rails and attach that plate to the slate and frame, secure slate in other areas with batten boards and put an outrigger on it in the middle for stabilization that would be a premounted bracket that I will make to lock on an OTLVISE attachment. When you come my way we can move my Diamonds around in the room and see how to make it work even better. Working together is the only way change occurs.

Earl deserves a lot of credit, but he did not dominate Archer- in fact, he barely beat him

You didnt hear Shane make any excuses in the interview after the match and you won't hear him make any now if you talk to him face to face.
Everyone involved knew the table was gaffey. It will be good to see what a legit 5x10 will play like.

When was the last time you saw a JOCKEY cross the finish line...BEFORE his HORSE? Meaning, todays players are playing with the best cues, chalk, racks, cloth....so if that be the case...to bring out the best of the best in players...then WHY play on a gaff...converted SNOOKER table...and call it a POOL TABLE....unless of course....it's a REAL 5'x10' pool table. I guess you're just one of the MANY that either can't tell the difference in the way the table plays, or don't know anything about pool tables

Maybe it was a "gaff" table, but shouldnt a top player be able to adjust to damn near any playing condition? If you are only the best on one type of table with optimal conditions..... does that really make you the best?
I watched alot of the match, and some of the shots Shane was missing, wasnt because of the pockets. He was off with his game, and he got beat. The table wasnt as big of a factor as a lot of folks are portraying.
Shane knows why he lost, and he will come back stronger for it in the long run.
