After the Seminole tournament this past weekend it seems we are going to have a real run for the money to make the 2011 Mosconi Cup Team.

Top 3 players w/most points are IN automatically. Matchroom Sports picks the remaining 2 members.

Seems the Seminole Tour lists the payouts thru 20th place. Points are awarded through 32 places. I'm not sure if Corey, and Shane placed in between the 21st and 32nd spot? If they did, they have a few more points than showing here.

Biggest change was Earl vaulting from the 7th spot up to the number 2 slot with a 3rd place finish.

1. Mike Dechaine ............. 465 points
2. Earl Strickland...............390 points
3. Dennis Hatch................380 points
4. Shane Van....................375 points
4. Corey Duel....................375 points
6. Charlie Williams..............363.5 points
7. Mike Davis....................347 points
8. Shawn Putnam..............310 points
9. Stevie Moore................279 points
10. Johnny Archer...............217.5 points

Who's going to Las Vegas..???? Who's staying home this year?

I really didn't want Earl to be there because he absolutely destroys team chemistry. However, with the mess that the ABP has stirred up, I am starting to want Earl on the team. Mainly I just want to see which of the guys that said they would boycott this event if Earl got in are actually willing to give up $10,000 out of principle. My guess is none.

I'm guessing if the top three stays as it is, the two chosen spots will go to Archer and Van Boening. That seems to be what they usually choose. I think Corey might end up getting in on points. It looks like Dechaine is a virtual lock to make it, especially with how he's been playing.

Well, you've got Earl's rapport with some previous Mosconi Cup members, and then you've got the recent back-and-forth between Dennis and Mike Dechaine.

I thought Corey shot well last year and would like to see him again on the team.

Shane Van Boening is a given. He's in like Flynn.

Johnny may be in jeopardy of being on the team if he doesn't accumulate more of those points.

Personally, I would like to see some new blood, so having Mike Dechaine on the team is a nice addition. Any one of the players on the list would be fine by me!

I agree with you about his negative effect on the team. I believe I remember a statement from Barry Hearn a few years ago though saying that he'd always want Earl on any USA Team because he brings drama and unpredictability to it. That is certainly true, but wether Barry still believes that I have no idea. If he qualifies in the top 3 he will go I guess, if he does everyone in Vegas better be ready for it. Last year at the York Hall, many of the European Fans were really disappointed that Earl wasn't there. When I asked them why, every one of them said they wanted to 'bait' him until he cracked. I understand it may be back at York Hall, London next year, that will be Earl's worst nightmare. They will be relentless in their pursuit of making him do something outrageous and everyone knows he'll do it! I was at some of the early ones at York Hall but nothing and I mean nothing has ever compared to last year from start to finish it was like being at a soccer match!

I understand the points and all but why don't we just send the top 5 US players so we can win the cup?

Johnny
Dennis
Shane
Corey
Rodney

Almost time to put my house up on a bet for Europe if this current point system holds. The European team is going to have so much chemistry over the Americans it will be sick. Maybe even more so after the US Open depending on how the current fiasco shakes out.

Johnny
Dennis
Shane
Corey
Rodney

Rodney should not go this year, Mike Dechaine far more deserves a spot on the team imo. Heres my list.

Shane
Corey
Dennis
Mike Dechaine
Johnny or Earl-should be decided by a fan vote

I definitely think MD can handle the pressure, Earl can hold his own
in an earthquake. SVB has nerves of steel also.
This is who I would like to see in the event.
Earl
MD
SVB
Corey ...has Mikas number.
I think these 4 are our best chance JMHO

It was certainly the loudest pool event I've ever seen, but the locals were quite well behaved -- they went from ear-splitting chants to silence as the player got down on the the shot. And then back to the chants the next moment. And when they forgot their manners, Ms. Tabb would remind them to behave and they did. The locals were also quite friendly to talk to in person and were simply enjoying the matches (and the Guinness).

You are absolutely correct, they were a great crowd and Michaela controlled things really well on the odd occasion it was needed. They were brilliant outside the arena too, I don't think I have ever enjoyed any Interntaional Competiton (at any Sport) as much as I did this one and I've been to a lot.

I know SVB was amazed at the noise and the vibrations generated by this crowd and everyone knows if he's amazed at that level of noise it was LOUD! He looked around several times and just said this is crazy (in a good way) with a huge smile on his face, he loved it. This is absolutely what Pool needs, to generate this sort of atmosphere and rivalry and maybe, just maybe things will start to happen. Unfortunately I don't think we can get to Vegas this year, but if it's back at York Hall, as I understand it maybe, we are going again next year. It was great meeting all the other US Fans, well the few of us that were there. I would suggest anyone who is even considering going to a Mosconi, make sure you visit a York Hall Match at least one year. It's one of those things that simply should be on every Pool Fans Bucket List.

For what its worth and thats not much but my team for this year would be:

Johnny
Shane
Dennis
Mike
and then 1 from four Corey, Stevie Moore, Hunter or Shawn and I can't decide which.

Rick S....From another thread about Shane losing his luggage, just prior to a tournament, it would seem that he was in the Far East, and not at the Seminole tournament.

He might have been put out early (I don't know if he was even there). I think Archer is going to the Jakarta tourney and he was at the Seminole event at Capone's this weekend.

My 5 for the US team would be:

Johnny Archer
Shane Van Boening
Dennis Hatch
Hunter Lombardo
Stevie Moore

IMO that is a losing team, I would take of Hunter and Stevie, add Earl and Dechaine, curious as to how Dechaine would handle that atmosphere.

Thanks Rick. AZ or Matchroom needs to change what I pasted in the above thread and put what you put in,

Classless, scummy and loathsome behavior.
