I'm sure I will get alot of suggestions from others and that's good .The main request of this post is for the 3 listed members to post a list of there all time favorite matches , why they are the best , and where they can be found ,you tube, accustats, tar, etc... This post was inspired by what may be the best match I have ever seen that Black Jack just posted between Reyes and Rempe .When Rempe started the come back I switched over to my 65" tv .

Thank you David , I can't give you more green right now
I fell off a step stool and twisted my ankle taking out a wall to make room for my table .It was more than a nice distraction to watch this match.I know between you ,Jay ,and Joey there has to be some of the best pool ever witnessed in the last 30 plus years. One huge name I left out was Jerry Forsyth ( a carolina native like me) who does some of the best commentary and could lead us to some of the greatest matches in history I'm sure .Sorry Jerry if you read this please share your favorites with us sir.

Best match I ever saw was Varner vs. Sigel from the 1990 U.S. Open 9-ball.

The match is currently on sale at Accu-Stats in their $9.95 DVD sale.

That's probably the greatest !! Certianly the most spiritual

You're right, Matt. It's also the only pool match that inspired a video game.

Too many to remember them all, but a couple of more recent ones come to mind. Shane vs. Alcano for the hot seat at the U.S. Open (2007 I believe). They were both playing good but Shane lit that table up! This one Accu-Stats has. Then last year in the semis of the World Cup in Manila. It was Team Philippines against Team Taiwan. The most excited I've ever been while doing commentary by far. Simply an awesome match by both teams. I never saw Dennis O. so emotional. Maybe you can find it on youtube, I don't know.

Another great match was Darren Appleton's victory over Wu Cha Ching in the World Ten Ball finals two years ago. Darren got off to a big lead, then Wu started charging back. He had all the momentum and it looked like Darren would get weak. But he didn't. Darren showed more heart in winning the last few games then I've ever seen. He had so many "must make" shots that he converted, and they weren't easy ones either. That match made Darren the champion he is today! Look for this on youtube also.

One other very cool match I worked on was in the early rounds between Lee Van and Lung from China. He had Lee Van buried, something like 9-2 and Lee Van ran out from everywhere to win the match. Lung didn't miss or play bad, he just fell victim to some ungodly pool by Lee Van. I have a copy of that match, thank God. Contact me if you want one.

Those are four that stick in my mind from the last few years. And of course, ALL the Mosconi Cups have been sensational, simply the best show in pool! If they ever put these matches on TV in America, we would develop a whole new audience. So much more exciting than bowling and several other prime time sports. It's not even close.

That has to be the first match between Shannon Daulton and Efren Reyes in Galveston, TX. Efren put Shannon in difficult situations one shot after the other. Shannon got out of some very difficult situations with perfect shots one after the other. It is an extraordinary match with pressure on both players.

You can find it on youtube : World Classic, JoeyA, Shannon & Efren.

Enjoy!

Jay-

Having now viewed the match-thanks to you-I agree it was an awesome match.

Lee Van played himself back into the match at the later stages with solid play.

Lung played strong. He took care of the cue ball and made the few tough shots he had; he was rarely out of line.

Lee Van came a long way back. He was looking pretty discouraged earlier; scratching on the break several times. Although he won, he probably shouldn't have.

In all, a great match-agreed.

Thanks again for the dvd. And for the good commentary.

One I recommend but may not be in the catalog any more is the 2 out of 3 set Sands final between Earl and Kim Davenport. A metric ton of great pool, and great commentary.

Another would be Johnny Archer-Nick Varner, also from the Sands. Archer lays down a 13-1 BOMB,finishing with a .989 TPA. Tommy D.

Also

I watched that Davenport/Strickland Accustats Sand Regent Finals VHS about 4 weeks ago.. Buddy Hall and Billy I. commentary.
The Semi-Final matches that year were great too.

Davenport/Strickland is my choice as well. Great match, little dance by the winner at the end, good stuff.

Watched the Archer/Varner in person...those tables were buckets but it was still impressive as hell.

Everyone has been posting rotation pool matches, I am shocked no one mentioned Efren's performance in the Derby City Classic One Pocket (I believe the finals and semi-finals of 2006). Efren runs 8 and out 5 consecutive times between the two matches I am fairly certain. It is by far the best performance - although one sided - that I have ever seen.

Efren v Alex Pagulayan
Efren v Jason Miller.

mcreedy/ bushwacker is a hoot. only x rated video I know of. x rated for language LOL

...

Efren v Alex Pagulayan
Efren v Jason Miller.
True! One of those matches has a mindblowing exchange, IIRC
Efren gets left like this:

CueTable Help

Slow-rolls into the 10, leaves this:

CueTable Help

gets put back here:

CueTable Help

And Efren does the slow roll shot again.

I am not worthy.

That was the very first 1P video I bought from Accustats, and he missed running out on one, remember the insane cut shot going 3 rails with reverse english getting perfect position? BTW, Jason Miller pocketed a measly 2 balls in the finals, in Efren's pocket!
