no more free water at Hanks

Regarding smoking: During summer it's comfortable to use the front porch. You can take a drink out there, too.

I've had a couple of good Mexican meals at Hank's, and also enjoyed the cheeseburger. The table time is damn reasonable, if you get one of the Gold Crowns.

Looks like this thread is now competing with those Iowa boys.... On to 20 pages!

This just in, a man was on fire at Hanks and after they through a gallon jug of water on him to put it out he was charged $5! :p

League nights we get free table time and I NEVER get out for less than $20 - $40.
$1 for water...pffft, whatever.

Koop - likes beer :D

At Hanks pool room in Denver they used to put out glasses and a pitcher of ice water for free. Now that is gone and there is a sign "Bottled Water" $1.00.
Any opnions on this?

I heard he had to start charging for water because of having to buy so much chalk because some people think it is "FREE".

Well, lol, it's a great title for a movie:

"No More Free Water at Hank's"

Lou Figueroa
give the guy a break
buy the bottled water

I have been getting a glass of water with my drinks, ever since they installed raspberry ice tea. I used to get regular ice tea and lemonade mixed but no more. Now it's a glass of water and green tea. If I can't afford to give away water, what's wrong with my business? I remember when we had fast Eddys. We weren't making the rent even though we had a ful house day and night, a line outside the door with numbers every night. Finally I talked the other partners into raising the pool table rates. The place has been open for thirty years now. By different owners, I sold my portion back to the partners and they sold out to someone from Chicago. It has been a family owned business since 1982.

Hey! I resemble that remark. Good memory.
To tell the truth the upper pouch on my case is full of chalk for now. But it is still hard to resist a nice cube that is just broken in right.

Water

"Cool" thread, but no pictures. There...drink up!

I know its not a big deal, but I never posted that comment and when I seen my screen name on there I have no clue how that comment ever got there.I'm with you about not bring in outside food or drink into another place of business.Love to know how that comment showed up with my name,Weird!

I quickly scanned through ALL the posts on this thread and I too am baffled. Your other post showed that it had not been edited, and I couldn't find the quoted statement on anyone elses posts. It's like it popped-up out of thin air. Can a quote be manipulated like that to where another person could "put words" into another persons mouth (no accusations here JAMSGOLF, just need some kind of explanation)??? That's kinda spooky.

Maniac

If you just want to quote a portion of what someone said, there is no need to insert the word "edit." Instead, just put ellipses (strings of three dots) before and after the quoted portion; this is standard practice to indicate the intentional omission of a portion of what the quoted person said.

I've been on vacation (in fact I'm still on vacation) and I just came accross this issue. One of the things I hate seeing on AZ is when someone "quotes" someone and includes the 20 pictures that someone posted in the original post. So, I started deleting the links to the pics...or if the post was long and I only wanted to respond to a portion of the post, I'll use ellipses (which I tend to use waaaaay tooo much in my writing...).

I would NEVER alter someone's text. I know that it can be done (as others have shown in this thread), but my reputation on AZ as well as outside the "virtual" world means too much to me to screw around with something like that.

As far as scsuxc's original post that I quoted...I swear it was there...it's not now and I believe that only mod's can delete them...this one's very weird and I SWEAR I didn't screw with quoting you...

Please PM me with any questions or concerns...again, my reputation is too important to me to screw around like that...

Yeah, it's Raphael Martinez. It was taken a month or so ago during a one pocket game at Rack em Billiards in Medford, OR.

Wonder how many miles he puts on his van (now a small motor home) every year. There are still "roadmen" wandering the highways of America, and making a living at pool. It can be done if you are well qualified! ;)

I don't know details

I don't know details but when you post a new message you have a very short period of time to edit without the automatic editing note appearing. No idea about this particular instance but perhaps you quoted something that was quickly edited afterwards.
