I recently bought a JD custom cue that is beautiful and plays great. I intended to have a LD 30" shaft fitted to the butt but discovered that the joint measures .891 and no one seems to make a LD shaft that large. Most are in the .840 range which leaves a .025 lip at the joint. The Lucasi Hybrid unfinished can be had at .880 which is close but after finishing it would still be small. I don't know if this is unique to my cue or if all Joel Dadivas cues come with this large joint diameter. I am posting this to try to find out what solution others have found to this issue. I don't want to get the butt turned down and refinished as it would be expensive when added to the cost of the shaft ( might approach the cost of the cue). I like the hit of this cue and may have to adjust to playing with the 29" maple shafts it came with.
I would appreciate finding out other JD owners experiences in this regard and if they found any solutions other than turning down the butt.
Thanks for your input
