Donny, I believe Earl played on the same table during you're match, along with the same lighting and rails. Sounds a little whiney.

I don't mean to pick apart your excuse, but did Earl have a "coal miner's" lamp on his head when he was looking in the dark spots?
How did he manage with the "boingy" rails? Did he have a "boing" damper on his Mighty Quinn cue?
I love playing in the Philippines. The no talking/no antics rule would get laughed at. If I was good enough to even consider taking on Earl then I'd let him talk himself to death. Why? Well I think he has more of a chance to take himself out of the game when you allow him free reign to whine and rummage through the bag of gadgets. Force him to be quiet and focus and you run the risk of getting the full on Earl Strickland that won five US Opens and four World Championships.
You are a great player Donny. That was a brutal loss. BUT my point remains that in my opinion the older player snapped to the conditions and figured them out better than you did. Is that because of the extra experience?
Since Earl is SO unpredictable as to which Earl is going to show up I feel that it's not good to bet on him for that reason alone. If he shows up ready to play then I don't think you have an easy game by any stretch.
Speaking strictly to the skill aspect, what things do you think you do better than Earl that make you confident that you can win a long race?
Would anyone really be surprised if Earl came out with a miners helmet on?

Sounds like you might want to add two more stipulations to your match:
- Bring your own lighting
- Bring your own rails
There's no doubt that you are a great player but you aren't doing yourself any good coming on here with the excuses - even if they are 100% percent accurate.

For sure, the TV table definitely does play differently than the other tables. In some instances, I can understand why a player would decline to play on the TV table, because of this very reason. The balls roll differently due to the TV lights. I have witnessed players crumble on the TV table due to these differences in equipment. :frown:
With that said, this is what separates the lions from the lambs. Old-school players adjust quicker. This is Earl's ace in the hole when it comes to competing, his capability to quickly adjust to a variety of equipment, as was also witnessed when he defeated Shane on the Frankenstein snooker table.
Both players are phenomenal, Donnie and Earl. There can only be one winner, and this time, it was Earl. :smile:
As quoted before, Earl played on the same table you did. Antics aside Earl has one of the biggest strokes of any pool player alive or dead. In prime form, he is truely amazing to watch.
If you think you are truely better than Earl, why would you play rack your own? I think that is your way of handicapping the match. After your SVB TAR match, EVERYONE knows that you are a rack machanic(no offense). Although it was neat to watch, I'm assuming that match killed some or your action. You're a GREAT player, and I'm no where near your caliber so take my opinions as just such, but I think you are limiting your abilities by racking and breaking the way you do. Your patterns are exactly the same everytime. If you have ever watched Earl play, he just throws the balls in the rack, talks to himself a little and smashes them...and has the experience and ability to run our from everywhere. You can't put him anywhere on the table where he doesn't know what to do. I would guess Earl would love to play a race to 60 in one day. He has a great cardio routine and his stamina can hang with anyone. Have you ever seen him look tired? I haven't. Every match he's played he's wanted to play till the end...with no breaks.
If you think you are better, the match should be race to 60(or whatever) with an unbiased person racking, 9 or 10 has to go in last or spots, call shot, no jump cues, if you luck safe your oponent has the ability to give it back. ONLY the better player will win this match.
