I've seen a few threads lately about how Corey is not playing pool much anymore. That may be true but he has been playing a little straight pool lately with my friend Bill Maropulos, out in California and he just got his high run in straight pool last night.

For those of you who do not get over to our 14.1 subforum here is a link to the video: http://vimeo.com/34132936

I hear he is coming back for more tonight!

Maybe he is practicing up for the Straight Pool Challenge at Derby City next month where he recorded his previous high run of 153.

even when running a couple hundred balls, Corey is listening (trying to pick up tips) to The Golf Channel...lol

I remember being at the derby when he ran the 153. I was very surprised when John Schmidt told me that was his high run. Pretty good jump up to 229. I'm sure if he played straight pool with any regularity he would be hitting those 3 and 400's occasionally.

Guess Corey has to now be added to the list of 200 ball runners. Congrats.

I know 14.1 doesn't get its due credit. I am happy anytime I can string 40-50 together. But I am not a pro, obviously. I did really enjoy the matches from the last 14.1 tournament in New Jersey. Ray Martin played, I really loved watching Thorsten vs Alex play as well. I'll have to watch Corey's video very shortly.

200+ for corey now tells me he's ready for Derby!! Can I put him into Jay's 1P challenge, please?!

always thought that he, more than most, had/has a legit shot at taking down Gabe's (CRAZY) record.

Were they playing a game ? Looked like he started of with a break ball in place.

No game. Bill had run a 91 and told Corey about it. Corey tried for 3 hours and could not break Bill's run.

Then a few days later, he came by and ran some 100s and then this.

I don't know that Bill has played him. They just golf and then try some runs on the table and shoot the breeze.

I heard that Bill and Corey ran into Tiger's coach at a pro golf event out there a few weeks back and were asking him questions for hours.

I thought I had heard somewhere that Corey was taught quite a bit by Jimmy Caras. If that is true, I can't see Corey's high run being in the 220's..

Great cut up the rail at 1:07 very impressive shot!!! Followed by another and another great save there..

Bump for the weekend warriors

I have only had time to watch a few racks so far, but he is very smooth at the table.

Very, very nice shooting.

What is the longest RECORDED run in straight pool?

A link, if possible, would be nice.

The longest recorded one that is out there is John Schmidt's 294 on a Diamond which he has for sale:

The longest recorded free one is a 259 Niels Feijen did a long time ago:

John Schmidt has a 366 recorded but it has not been released yet.

He also has many 200s recorded that are not out there yet.

Those pockets were HUGE! He couldn't have done that on a diamond, no way. He is still a great player nevertheless.

Awesome run Corey.

I've been out of the billiard loop for a decade but remember watching Corey when he was younger back in the 90's.

I was always amazed at the level of play he held with his head height being higher than normal for someone of that caliber. Not taking anything away from his game at all, just an observation.
Smooth player with eagle eyes.
Great to see him back on step with the near flat top hair doo just like the last time I saw him on TV, fit as a fiddle too as always.
