What do you think of this absurd comment

actually a perfect game in golf is shooting par. most pro's shoot better than perfect. but a scratch golfer is theoretically able to reach the pro level

but if you want to be realistic 59 is probably as good as it gets and there have been a few.

I think we would see a lot better pool and players if the money was there ....you put a 1m prize package together and I think you would see a lot of great players come out of the woodwork ....

I would like to see earl hit a 320 yard drive ....i'd give him say 100 chances and see what he can come up with. and how the hell does he know if tiger can play pool or not? I bet Tiger could get closer to beating earl in pool than earl could get to tigers golf score ....that's for sure ....

A round of even par is far from perfect in my view, and if you shoot even par every round on tour you probably will not make enough money to keep your card (with the exception of the US Open). Par is the score a scratch golfer would expect to make on a hole. To me a perfect round of golf would be 18 under, essentially hitting every green and one putting. You could even make the case that in today's game, with the par 5's reachable for touring pros, that a perfect round would be 22 under: birdie on all the 3's and 4's and eagles on the four par 5's.

It will likely never happen.

But I don't think it's and absurd question but rather a case could be made that either game is the more difficult.

But I do think maybe the most difficult thing to do in sport is hit a baseball, considering that if you fail 7 out of 10 times you will make the hall of fame.

Were they friendly on the golf course?

I wonder if Corey and Earl get along at all. I would think that Corey would still be a little upset that Earl ruined his first major tournament victory by quitting before the match started because of his soft break.

If you're talking about the tournament at Romines when Earl quit, it had nothing to do with the soft break. Earl kept checking the rack and making Corey re-rack if the balls were not frozen. At one point he was told he could not check the rack anymore and had to accept it as it was. Earl felt as if he was entitled to make sure he had a good rack before breaking and walked out. I don't blame him. That was an extremely bad ruling!

The one difference between golf and pool is in golf your opponent is always playing against you and you have to beat his score you cant play safe or put the ball where you want if he has a penalty/foul.

If pooled was played like Fast Eddie Felson played it would be great. Anyone can win if they play safe all the time. I would like to see pool played like golf no safes. If safes are your only skills in pool then you really haven't played pool.IMO

I just completely disagree with this. And I doubt there are many serious players who's only skill is safety play since that is usually one of the more advanced things learned about the game. And BTW, golfers play safe all the time, like shooting away from the hole to the fat part of the green rather than challenging a pin tucked behind a bunker or lagging a putt for a tap in par if your opponent is looking at bogey.

For the one's who don't play golf....
There's an ole saying that should be good here. It's better to keep your mouth shut and thought a fool than to open It and remove all doubt.Just thought I would throw this In here. One game Is not harder than the other. Can't even compare them. They are very different games.John B.

Earl telling Joe Rogan that pool is alot more difficult than golf...................................................................................................................................................................................................

Who is Earl? Who is Joe Rogan? And what is golf?

John,

Any time two forms of competition are compared to each other two things have to be considered. First the skill of the people you play, and second the size of the pool of high level competitors. If almost any of us tries to play tiddly winks against a world class player we will find tiddly winks very very tough to play.

Looking at golf, not only is there a very elite field of players but it is deep and broad. It is a lot tougher to break into that elite field. Golf isn't hard to play at a very bad level, it is considerably harder to run with the big dogs than pool is. I remember an executive talking about playing in a pro-am foursome with Jack NIcklaus long after Jack was past his prime. The executive was much younger and had spent several hundred thousand on lessons over the years. Jack was the last to play off of the first tee. His drive straight up the middle over a hundred yards further than anyone else's announced it was gonna be a humbling day for the amateurs!

Earl has been an advocate of your specific reforms- especially the 10 foot table with smaller pockets and no jump cues allowed

If Earl gets his wish then this game might actually start to justify being used in the same sentence as golf when talking about difficult sports. ATM? Not even close.

I this is about as well as you can put it.

Ass-to-mouth? What does that have anything to do with it?

I was watching the British Open last year and saw players hit balls accurately out of deep rough with the ball above their feet while the wind was blowing the rain sideways.

I guess I don't know what the comparable situation in pool would be.

playing earl while he sharks the shit out of you?

In 1994, Pyongyang media reported that Kim Jong-il shot an amazing 11 holes-in-one to achieve an unprecedented 38-under-par game on a regulation 18-hole golf course - on his first try at golf.

I wonder how many people have ran 11 racks their first time at a pool table.

if you believe that, I have some ocean front property for sale in Arizona. The odds of the average amateur making 2 hole in ones in the same round is reportedly 9,222,500 to 1. So the odds of a FIRST TIME PLAYER making 11 of them in one round....well, I may take up 2 or 3 pages of posts just adding zeros on to the odds.
