Kamui or Moori?

Hey guys and gals. I'm sure this has been beaten to death.....

I play with a Kamui hard. There is a local cuemaker that will install a Moori H for $18.

I've never had issues with Moori M, but never tried the hard.

Any advice?
thanks.
Fox.

Hey Chris,
Typically, the Kamui hard plays harder than the Moori hard. This is true even for the Kamui browns.

$18 is a good price...

i agree about onyx

try an onyx tip from tiger!!

love onyx tips they are all i play now but they are more med hard than hard and lean toward the medium more than hard. Still a great tip and worth trying for anyone that doesnt feel they need everything that has a kamui name. I switched from kamui blacks and would never go back.

I've been trying different tips but I keep coming back to Moori.

For $18 installed, it is worth giving it a shot.

Curious how people get to try so many different tips. Is this all on the same cue ? If so, how do you do it ? Doesn't it take a while to wear down a tip ?

They either

a) Play all the time, so the tip gets used more quickly
b) Have different shafts/cues
c) Don't really lose sleep over $20 every few months for getting the excitement and new experience in a hobby they enjoy the most

Kamui hard is my favorite tip

Can you please explain why do you, or people in general, prefer it over a soft tip?

I am using Kamui SS, never even tried a hard tip. For some reason I always think of miscueing more often when thinking about a hard tip :p

Sorry to semi-hijack your thread OP, but I didn't feel my question needed a thread on it's on.

For what it's worth, my friend used Moori soft, then changed to Kamui SS and prefers it over Moori.

Cheers.

I have several cues. One of my team mates does repairs and has a lathe. He also has several shafts that fit a couple of my cues so there is no shortage of cues/shafts to try tips with. Since he puts them on it only cost whatever the tips cost. I have a table so it's no problem giving each one a good test run in a fairly short period of time. I can even play with a tip new for a while then cut it down and re-shape it to see how it performs when it's stubbier, all in a very short period of time. Often I'll be trying 2-3 tips at a time on different shafts so I can compare them side by side.

I'm not doing this constantly. Just once in a while I get a bug to try some new tips.

No problem at all. I typically feel as if a softer tip crushes under certain shots. I spin the ball alot and play one pocket; a hard tip seems to have more feel to me and more instant feedback. It's easier for me to spin the ball on soft shots and also more ball control. But that's just me.

I am lucky enough to be able to play about 4 hours daily give or take. I go through tips alot.

I figure it's worth a shot to just try the moori H. I have grown fond of the Kamui H though.

I've always played with morri med and liked them a lot...just tried a kamui med...and it's the deal!
My opinion is morri great, kamui awesome
18 is cheap but a tip lasts me a long time so I don't care what it costs

Keep the Kamui..............my last Moori hard glazed over quickly and did not hold chalk.

I've tried all the Kamui tips, Black and Brown, old and new, hard and soft. I liked the medium Black the best. Right now I'm playing with a Kamui Black SuperSoft. They all glaze over and require constant work to keep from miscuing.

I'm ready to move on to a different tip, but the Moori reviews don't sound any better.

Best,
Mike

Agree - they all glaze over and require work every couple of hours. This is what my professional friend says. He gets tips of every kind and installs and tests all of them with another pro playing friend of his.

He does not like Kamui that much - prefers the Moori over it. Believe it or not, his favorite tip is the Talisman hard.....it comes already domed and the with the proper thickness. Kamui tips have too much realestate. From my watching the pros, I know that Archer and Immonen play with tips that are just about worn out.

the kamui browns don't glaze over like the blacks and the moori's, IME. holds chalk the best of all the layered tips i've tried
