Rules concerns

Mr Wilson,

This has been a questionable topic here for as long as I can remember. Isn't there a way to accommodate the dealers as well as the regular members?

How about a sub forum (like the old raffle section) that allows our dealers to post up their goods? I will admit I do not like to see the forum clogged up with a bunch of Meucci, McDermott, Lucasi, etc. but there are some members who simply can't afford a custom cue like some of the stuff being offered here.
Or, if not a sub forum, find a way to control it. I'm a member on several other forums who use a member's post count/tenure as a way to gain admittance into the wanted/for sale section.

Here is an excerpt from that site in regards to their rules. I have X'd out the other forum name to protect it's entities...

For Sale Rules

- Eligibility. Members must have made at least 300 posts and been a member here for at least 180 days. This is an automatic part of the Xxxxx Xxxx software; when eligibility has been met the member will automatically be given access to the For Sale forum. Repetitive, brief phrases or remarks do not necessarily count towards that total.
NO EXCEPTIONS.

The Xxxxx Xxxx is not affiliated with any commercial entity or any individual that works with such entity or any seller posting items for sell/trade. The Xxxxx Xxxx is not liable for any misrepresentation, fraud or spam posted on their site. You access the Xxxxx Xxxx and the For Sale area at your own risk. None of the sales transactions, payment transactions or methods made on this board are representative of XxxxxXxxx.com Buyer and Seller assumes all risks for all aspects of the transactions taking place in the For Sale Area.

I believe that would cover the forum and prevent any frivolous lawsuits from finding their way into your mail box. It would additionally deter people (dealers) from becoming members just to list their items for sale.

One other idea is to charge for the use of the WFS section. I know of another forum that requests that each member donate $1.00 for every sale made. It's an honor system, but it seems to work pretty well. I'm sure that a few hundred extra dollars would go a long way to help pay for the server etc.

If anyone would like to expound on these ideas, please feel free.

I feel that this is no different than anything else in life. It only takes a few individuals to ruin it for all by circumventing the rules. It is a choice to be on this side of the fence or the other side. Looks to me that Mr Wilson will have his hands full for quite a while from what I see.

Well obviously Wilson considers me a dealer. I think thats wrong.
I dont have a problem following rules but If I am the only one that is following them, it doesnt do this section much good.
I also assume I cant sell ANYTHING in this section since I was selling some spare tips and that thread got deleted also.
The hipocracy in this forum runs rampant. Some can sell whatever they want and bump as many times as they want but others cant. Some are obviously here to sell only and I would consider them dealers as well.
I just dont like to see some people follow the rules and others dont and get away with it.
If the mods consider me and other builders as dealers so be it, but we are not the only ones. I think there are some who get a pass or fly under the radar.
I didnt have to sell here but I chose to. Now I cant. I'm fine with it.

no dealers?

i have not listed a cue for sale, because of the new rules and i build and sell cues. i was told the forum was for players that decided to sell one of their old playing cues, man, i had no idea that there were that many players selling their old cues, as of this morning. these are for sale. 47 cues sold, 72 cues sold, 62 cues sold, 22 cues sold,, 37 cues sold, 92 cues sold, 34 cues sold.

I personally don't see why we couldn't have a sub-forum on here for the selling of new products (cues, cases, accessories, etc.). That would/should completely free up the Wanted/For Sale section for used stuff.

After all, there are a few sub-forums here that simply aren't used enough to warrant keeping them. Eliminate a few of them and add something here that would be utilized a TON!!!

I vote for two For Sale sections. One for new stuff and one for used stuff.

This is why I started my own site, and a lot of people are starting to join. I was posting the same things as other people yet I was getting mine yanked even before the rules change. Life is sooooo simple where I sell now and yes, I still sell my stuff at a tremendous bargain. You can go through any of my old posts. I am not a trouble maker nor start arguments on here, yet this time I am a little irritated. I want to know how to join this special "CLUB" that seems to be able to do what they want. It feels like high school...."oh, your parents are boosters???? well then you get to start at quarterback" It will all straighten itself out over time I am sure. I am a little disappointed that I can not sell here or link my cues from my site even. People are starting to find me though......

it's not about taking up space

the original statement said that new cue deals gone bad ended up in lawsuits

guess no used cue deals went bad, just new ones

Whatever happened to personal accountability? If the deal sounds too good to be true it usually is. How about just banning the people that sue?

there it is. NO NEW ITEMS

there's been several listed as NEW CUES for days and days

am i misinterpreting that???????????????

You also forget that this rule is for dealers, not individuals. If I go out and buy a Ginacue, keep it for a year without ever playing with it, I should be able to list it for sale as a new item. But if I'm listing 5 new cues a week, then I would be considered a dealer.

Don't know why you guys are splitting hairs here. If you spend your work day dealing with the sale of cues, then you're a dealer. If you spend your work day not doing pool related stuff, then you're not a dealer. If all you do is list everything as new, then you're a dealer, or a sad collector.

im not forgetting that part of it at all, i see that

when a guy gets a NEW cue just in on tuesday morning & lists it for sale tuesday afternoon, sounds like a dealer
that's much different than your scenario

i own a jewelry store

so i guess i'm not a cue dealer. there is a guy that has sold an average of a cue every 10 days for the last 2 1/2 years, and he is still selling on azb, i want someone to tell me he is not a cue dealer.

If the person does this consitently, then they are a dealer. But if I had gotten a brand new Southwest directly from them, but from the time I selected the woods, to the cue being completed, I had financial trouble, I should be able to list it exactly like you described.

These are the gray areas that need defined. What happens to the guy who has collected a bunch of cues in hopes their value would increase to the point of profit? Technically he isn't a dealer, but he'll be selling new cues.

Why isn't that Cues4Christ guy not considered a dealer? He inundates the forum with for sale posts.

I dunno....he told me a few years ago that he was a dealer and was going to be creating his own site.

Many others in addition to me warned that this will be a problem and here it is playing out. If you cannot clearly define a term, there's going to be confusion and inconsistency.

Futhermore, the announcement of the final rule is 'clear' like our US tax code is 'clear'. In the end you run off legitimate people and are left with problem causers and abusers.

I would say the moderators will in the next several months delete the dealers off from here that are still trying to sell with warnings and banning., I just list used only, as Mr. Wilson said " let them play chicken".....it will catch up with them. We dont own the site, I go with the flow " Always listen to the Boss "...he or she will always have the last word...........OTB;)

You mean like the boss may not always be boss , but the boss is always Boss . I understand !!!! Jim

i dont have to worry about rules, grey areas
i just dont post anything here for sale
there's other places already and more to come
by the time the grey areas are defined i'll be dirt
