What's up with this cue for sale on E-bay?

It says

on the Ebay page that it is a Samsara cue. It is a nice cue, but I think the buy it now price is too high.

Samsara sounds about right. Samsara is an ACA member. Jim Stadum ("JS") & Dave Doucette ("DD") are from Samsara, one of the firms on the list of cue makers involved in the Smithsonian exhibition.

Is it just me or was the OP asking about why the ebay listing seemed weird?

Freddie <~~~ thinks the ebay listing is very weird

Scam!

It definitely seems like a scam even if it is a real Samsara. It also seems like this guy isn't even the owner of the cue based on the seller's agreement with the owner not to divulge the maker.
Imagine being the owner of a consignment shop and a guy comes in wanting to sell his car. He says to the shop owner "It has 120k miles, it's blue in color and drives "pretty well" for its age and I want $10,000 for it though you can't tell anyone what kind of car it is. But here are a few pictures and I promise it was made by one of the best auto makers in the USA". Who would agree to this? I honestly can't see this happening without unsavory motives or collusion of some sort.

Rick

I dont think it is a scam unless the eBay seller had his account hijacked.

Samsara makes low end cues like the one listed.

If you have questions, call the seller Rick, his number is listed at the bottom.

Rick
Looks like he is selling it on consignment. Everything seems up front. He does tell you what the cue is in the Item specifics section. He lists his phone number and if you look at his Me page encourages people to call him. He has over 350 billiard related items for sale on ebay right now with over 3000 feed backs is top rated seller and 100%. I would say he is making money on ebay, what would be his motivation to pull a scam and jeopardize his business for one sale? You have to use some logic, he just wrote a strange ad but you are free to give him a call and report back.

Oh, pleeeeeeze.

Your conclusion is far less interesting and likely accurate!!!

The seller's name is Rick. For your best deal, call him or send a message. Just because someone list something on Ebay for a set price,
doesn't mean that is the final price. With ebay charging 11% on items sold, experienced sellers will gladly send you an invoice through paypal for your best deal.

Your money is always safe with an invoice through paypal. If you are
not satisfied, you can still file a dispute and get your money back.

To be more safe, use you credit card to pay through paypal. That way,
if a dispute doesn't work, you can do a charge back through your
credit card.

If you can figure it out...the cue is new and he does say what brand the cue is.

You just need to know where to look. Some cue makers don't want people to sell too low.

I agree 100%! I have made numerous purchases in the past from checkmarkauctions and I have never had any problem whatsoever. Great eBayer. Plus he makes it SUPER OBVIOUS that it is a Samsara Cue...

Why didn't you ask the seller about this cue instead of making it look like a rip off? Grow some....

I'm curious, What kind of answer did you think he would have received that seller with a cryptic description like what was in the auction?

Maybe the OP just wanted to get an impartial opinion.

You're probably right. Scam would be a harsh label. It's definitely a strange ad though. I just personally think it's weird to withhold such important information from a buyer. I guess everyone does business differently. Full disclosure is the best policy in my book.

He has had other auctions like this where he alluded to the makers in this way.
As in, this isn't the first one. It is kind of strange that he chooses to word it like he does tho. Maybe he has a reason.
Other than that, it is pretty easy to Google, Pool Cue, the Illusion and find out who the makers are.

I dealt with Rick a few years ago on e-bay (he had a different user ID at that time) and had absolutely no problems. At that time he was mainly a dealer for McDermott.

More recently, he joined AzB with the moniker chitownbilliard, and has branched out in his product line. Here was a thread where he introduced himself: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=221551

He has had cues made by Samsara for a while. The logo on the cues is a fancy CTB, for Chi Town Billiards.

It's also pretty easy for China to fake anything you can think of. They don't care who thought of it or owns the rights to it. Freaky behavior always makes me nervous and that auction qualifies in my book. Frankly I would never buy from someone who comes across like that but it was so weird it made me curious. So I wondered what other folks think.

HMM TCB was Elvis' slogan... Maybe the cue was made for him by Samsara while he was pumping gas in Idaho...

Hello Everyone

I was both sad and quite happy and surprised to see these many both positive and negative comments on the cue that i have listed on ebay for sale .

I would like to point out a few things to make it clear to those who doubt the product or other things :

1) Its a samsara - the reason why i cannot or will not list it as one is simply because when jim stadum agreed to make these for me - he clearly told me that I cannot list these on ebay as samsara cues - because he is selling similar cues for a lot more on his website and some of his exisiting dealers and customers who are a major pain in the neck who ***** about every damn thing in the world are or were paying more for similar cues with the samsara name on it .
2) so that i bring this cue to the billiard world for a lesser price - i chose to ignore and told jim to put my company name chi town billiards inc - for short CTB on it instead .
3) I never sell anything that i dont have in stock ----- I DO NOT SELL PRODUCTS THAT I DONT HAVE IN STOCK .
4) this cue is in stock with me right now - not on consignment or any other crap like that.
5) Someone mentioned that if anyone who is keenly interested in the product and wants it - please call me - it helps you and me --- as ebay charges me anywhere from 11 to 14 percent of the final selling price or more .
6) Next time my suggestion to those who think any product on ebay that someone is selling is fake or real --- please call the seller first or atleast make a effort to contact him or her and ask a couple of questions ! that might clear up things.
7) I thank all those who posted anything favorable ---- if anyone of you who did --- go to ebay check out any or all product i have listed on ebay --- see anything you like ---- and take 14.9999% off the price listed
8) those of you who posted negative or damaging comments are welcome too to give me a shot or try me out ......i will give them 15% off the price mentioned on ebay

Heres the link to my ebay store -- see anything -- give me a call , rick 8479714700
