This is disturbing...

Friend of mine showed me what used to be a beautiful Schon. Guy in a bar fight hit another guy in the head with the cue and broke the butt in half. It's disturbing to me that you could do that kind of damage on someone's head. But my first thought was why didn't he grab a house cue? :frown:

Probably a newer Schon, several people have noted they don't hold up to collisions with people's skulls as well as the old ones did. Another issue is technique. Players today don't have the same experience level when it comes to hitting people over the head with cues that the old school players had. As you note, an old school player would have almost certainly snatched up a house cue and broken it to a proper length before playing a little skull music.

Lesser quality cue, less skill on the part of the rapper, broken cue is the result!

I am not sure of this but I was told if it was not for stupid people and bad tempers the jump cue may have never been invented:p

Jump or Bump?

Are you talking about the jump cue or the bump cue?

I'm working on a new all brass and stainless bump cue for just such occasions. As would be expected, it hits a ton!

Been wondering

It has been decades since I played with one of those baseball bat diameter cues. I have been wondering how one would play. Have to core it with something light to get the weight down to play these fast tables. You are right about breaking them though, wouldn't happen with the little lightweight skulls people have today.

There was a house cue with a tooth embedded in the butt at the pool hall awhile back. Pretty sure the tooth didn't get there from someone biting the cue! :D

Brunswick adjuster.

Brunswick as we know made many products. This is the Adjuster! Just holding the Adjuster in your hand will change peoples attitude. Movement causes even more change in attitude. Always thinking of safety, Brunswick made the Adjuster smoothe and cylindrical in case someone decides to stick it up your bum!

Obviously the older Adjusters were better because they were fatter and hence more stout. This could be worse for the adjustee of course, especially if the latter route were taken....

These are much more sophisticated devices than might be found elsewhere and demonstrate just how advanced Brunswick was. I think the real question is whether or not the development should be attributed to Rambow.

Some examples of lesser devices (not made by Brunswick).

Will we get pics and a review of the Schon Adjuster? I didn't even know they made them.

I have to ask....can an attitude be adjusted just as well with a house cue? It has been suggested to use a house cue rather than a custom....

stop the violence

just wanted to add my 2 cents worth.so here it goes. what happens when u hit some one with the joint end? its been in my experience that this gashes a prsons head open. right?? lol well always try to walk away from violence but if they insist that the situation escalate remember the big pin will surely do some damage!

I've heard Schons are cored. Is that true?

Dunno about all of em, but mine was solid wood. I cracked mine stumbling over it somehow. Was a freak accident, no drugs or alcohol involved. I think I got up, stumbled over my own feet..... and the cue got caught in between!

The joint end is more properly applied to ribs and gizzards. If having the misfortune to have snatched up your own cue butt better to use the ends of it than to use the middle anyway although a sharp crack across the bridge of the nose with the wrap area of a cue butt can be an attention getter when you are just trying to get someone's attention.

There are some hard headed people in this world. How did the guy's head come out of the encounter? The man may have been in jail for murder if he had grabbed the house cue instead of the Schon.
