Hello!!!
My name is Alex and I'm in Bakersfield, CA. I've been playing billiards since 6yrs old, won a few trophys when I was younger. Stopped playing for a number of years, then started again about 7yrs ago. I play at bars a little, pool halls more often, have my own cues, etc. I'm defiantly a novice compared to most on here I would think. I've had a pool table before in a rental house, it came with it though and stayed when I moved. Now I'm buying my own house and I bought a used table as project. It will be going in my family with a custom stained glass table light my mom is making (she does stained glass for a living).
It was fully complete with all accessories but needed bumpers and felt. I bought "The Green Book" and we fully marked everything and dis-assembled the table to move it to my garage. I'm going to be stripping the wood, staining it a dark cherry/light burgundy color and coating it with a clear lacquer, and using royal blue felt. The pockets also need some work. I planned on hiring a local shop to do the leveling, bumpers, and felt. It's a 3-piece slate Olhausen sold by SLO Billiards in CA back in 1997. I still have to measure it and mic the balls to know exactly what size everything is and then figure out which model Olhausen it is, looks like an 8'. I *think* it's a Portland Provincial.
I'm looking forward to leaning all I can and restoring the table to the best of my abilities! Attached are pictures of my starting point, loosely mocked up in my garage after moving it. I'm going to dig in to tearing the legs off and stripping the wood in a couple weeks.
Thanks!
