Predator chalk new!!! new!!! new!!!

I stopped by Crown City Corey's today and stole the one piece of new Predator chalk that he stole from someone else. :)

Used it for a while on he table and to me the chalk is very similar to BD.

I will use it tomorrow for a longer time at the table and report back.

One thing I did notice is that it takes a little time to get used to the shape to where it feels comfortable chalking. Also, that the shape will allow the chalk to be used more evenly and not have to swipe from corner to corner like you do with a square chalk.

Thanks Corey!!!!!!!

it's 8 sided. which can only mean they're co-promoting with the UFC

Stop shots should be much easier now.

My $0.02 worth on Blue Diamond:

I was used to Masters. HATE Silver Cup, feels like beach sand compressed into a cube. Unfortunately, that's the majority of what's at my local watering hole. There's a couple of cubes of NTC (National Tournament) and it's not bad, comparable to Masters IMHO. What few Masters cubes there are were probably left behind or found in the tables.

I decided to try out Blue Diamond. $5 for two pieces vs buying a box of Masters.

The tip that came on my Minnesota Fats cue SUCKS. Honestly feels like compressed cork. With Masters it would glaze over very quickly, within 2-3 games. Wouldn't hold chalk after that. Picking didn't really help. With SC it would glaze over faster. The tip is one reason I quit shooting with it. However, with Blue Diamond, it takes much longer for the tip to glaze over, more like 6-7 games of shooting with it.

With the Elk tip on my Adam, the chalk does seem to go on more evenly and again, takes longer to glaze over. Elk tips are high maintenance anyway, but not as much with the Blue Diamond.

Now, as for playability? I feel like I can get more english on the cue ball with Masters. Don't know why. But until I get higher quality tips, I'll use the Blue Diamond for the reason that it simplifies life. Less maintenance on the tips.

And FWIW, I played a few games with a friend's Kamui. Freakin' LOVED it. Stayed on the tip forever, felt liquid when it went on, and it just felt better shooting with it. Do I plan on buying any soon? Not really. I'm not going to spend $30 on chalk when I there's a lot of other things I want to buy first.

Now, this new Predator chalk? If it's comparable in price to the Blue Diamond chalk, sure, I'll try it out. If a distributor wants to send me a cube, I'll even do an unbiased review on it here. And I agree, if they mainstream it, it'll only be a matter of time before they start marketing their own chalk holders. And why not? It's different, it's eye-catching and that alone sells a lot.

I came to the conclusion ages ago to let people think what they want - they will anyway.

You decided on this as opposed to engaging in mind control? If people don't think what they want, they are mindless fools. However, it works out the same thinking there is a difference when there isn't, and thinking there isn't when there is. Both offer equal opportunities at foolishness.

Until I try it,I don't have an opinion on it.

I wouldn't care if it was shaped like a D+D D-16,as long as it works.

I've tried Silver Cup. Not as bad as Sportcraft,or other cheap stuff, but won't use it.

I have 2 cubes of good old pre-flag Masters in my case, along with a couple fresh flagged Master.

The old men's pool room has been putting out light-green Master, and I refuse to use it. It SUCKS.

If I'm going to a tournament big enough to truly care about the outcome,I still have a stash of PBT-logo National Tournament Chalk from 1995.

Until I get a chance to try the Kamui, this is the end-all be-all of chalk.

The closest stuff I've found to what I have is still produced by NTC,but comes with a black wrapper now. Good stuff, very close to pre-flag if you can find it. Tommy D.

Have tried this chalk a month or more ago. Feels like a blue diamond. I have Masters, BD, Brunswick and the Kamui 0.98 chalk with me now. For some reason, I still prefer to stick to the BD chalk. The kamui leaves more stains on the cue ball.

I'll try any chalk once. But if the price is so high as to preclude me from buying it on a regular basis, then I won't pay to try it.

Predator has some great products. I personally am also a fan of their Jacoby Panthera cue.

I've got the old National Tournament
Chalk that was made in Chicago IL and I'll tell you,its in between Blue Diamond and Kamui. Not as pasty as Kamui but a little softer than Blue Diamond. Its the only Chalk I've found that goes on so well and still feels like chalk.Great stuff but hard to find.

Is it in a red wrapper and is a darker blue? This is the chalk my school has and I feel like it's powdery junk. Similar to Brunswick chalk in the black wrapper.
