I really can't believe that voting is this close right now.
Pros should play by professional rules.
Table open after the break. Just my point zero two - but I'm watching either way.
On this tight table, I don't see playing "take what you make" significantly tilting the scales to one player over the other. Both will play by the same rules. I'm surprised this rule is making this much hullaballoo.
Regardless, I'm leaning towards making it tougher and forcing them to play more strategic - take what you make. I think it will be more interesting watching these guys having to risk or safe a little more. But I really don't give a rat's rump; it'll be good either way to me. Calling it ball banger bar rules seems contradictory when it's a tougher game.

Just play alternate break and play by professional rules.
Take what u make. Lets make it as hard as possible, they are elite players.
There are professional 8-ball rules?
Whatever. I'm talking about WPA World Standardized Rules. The rule set all World Championships and most professional events are played by, at least in regard to group choice in 8 Ball.

I voted open after the break but playing the other way could cut down the break-and-run from 80% to 60%?
Just guessing on the numbers,iv'e never seen pros play 8-ball on a 9' table.
I also dont understand how u can be penalized when you have the first shot? IF you arent creative enough to get out of tough spots, u should get beat at that level.
Really?
You cannot see how you could break, make a stripe, jaw a couple solids, have no open shot that can be pocketed on the stripes, and in effect be screwed right off what was a decent break based on the luck of how the balls came out?
In 8-ball you are certainly never assured of having a shot after the break on either stripes or solids, and after the break if the balls have already been assigned due to this rule you can in effect break yourself into a brutal safety right off the hop and what did you do wrong, broke well and got unlucky on how the balls came to lie?
That's when the fun starts...and the truly magnificent 8 ball begins. Better find a safe or an out! With make it take it you get softer, more controlled breaks and lots of clusters to work with...if I'm watching the best of the best play 8 ball, then I want to see real creativity! If I want to see 5 packs, then I'll watch a stream of APA Masters' play...not that that's necessarily a bad thing.........
