I saw him w/ it on you tube. Does anyone know anything about it? I think he 1st. used it in a multi format tourny in Eng. for snooker & then kept using it for awhile for everything. Is it an extention or a solid 2 pc. long cue. I'm wondering about the balance & the advantage of reach on big tables. Just wondering.

It's a two piece cue with about a 1 foot butt extension made by mike gulassy. It weighs 24 oz or so when all three pieces are put together. He started using it when he played Shane on the ten foot. There's a video of him playing parica with it on YouTube, he takes the extension off at some Point for part of a rack because he was up against a wall or something and runs out the rest of the rack like that. I've seen him jump and break with it too. It also doubles as a javelin.

Doubles as a Javelin :lol::lol::lol:

I would really like to shoot with that cue just to see how it feels. Can you buy one anywhere?

I think it served Earl really well in the 10 foot match with Shane

Gulyassy comes to do repairs/sales in our Tiger Tour tourneys in Houston. A guy here got the same extension and uses it now, swears hes shootin better. :)

Could you give me some more details about the extension ?
What is the length, diameter and weight?
What is it made from?
I'm thinking of making an extension like this that I can add to my Ikon. All Ikons (I think all Predator cues) have that bumper that screws into the cue.

Didn't do much for him on the ten-footer against Landon ;)!!!

Maniac (NOT subscribing that the "javelin" cue would have made him any better than he was in his prime)

I'm fairly sure he used it before playing SVB. I'm fairly sure he used it when playing Davis on the 10' snooker table in the challenge matches, but...I may be wrong.

He was over to my home with the cue and it also had a tennis grip wrap on the damn thing an he was using gause on his hands to seperate his fingers for what he thought to enable him to grip it in the way he thought it was most effective---I played golf with him the next day and watched him wrap his hands for about 5 min with gauze for the same reason--trying to figure out what Earl does to make yourself a better player should be trying out on your own--what works for one sometimes ain't what works for everyone else

You need to have a pure stroke to use a cue that long. Any flaws are amplified. I believe if Earl would slow down a little, get rid of all the gimmicks and just go back to basics he would be the best in the world again.

He is handicapping himself with all that stuff.

Agreed, He didn't need all that stuff when he won his "5 US Opens & 6 World Titles" and someone close to him needs to tell him that!!

An insight of Earl's cue from his cue maker Mike Gulyassy. Definitely this is the answer to your question.

You can talk to Earl and he will listen to ya talk--but that's about as long is it's gonna last--what the crazy thing is, what ever he figures out that is working for him--works for him--it won't be long until he will probably firgure that this isn't working anymore and make a dramatic change again in some other way or fashion

I could have sworn Shane was using an extension on his cue when he played Dennis over the weekend. Maybe only a 6" or 8" extension, but an extension nonetheless. Anyone else notice that?

MSchaffer...Many players have had extensions built for their cues, to avoid having to use a bridge. Earl is one of the first players I've seen who is using the extension as a 'normal' playing cue. Like Gulyassy said, whatever works for someone is good for them, but may not work for someone else.

Yes, I know about the extensions that are built custom for cues, but what I noticed (or I thought I noticed) was that Shane had his (custom) extension screwed in the entire time, and was playing with what appeared to be a 65"+ cue. Very good chance it was my imagination though.

You have to have a great swing like the Miz and Earl to control that amt of wood as the slightest of anything is magnified with a longer cue. Being as tall as I am, I had Kikel make me a 5'' insert extension that I leave connected to my second shaft at the joint, all I got ta do is uncork and recork, and vise versa after the shot. Being 6'6'' is a huge advantage in 9 or ten ball, other games its not.
