I'll start : I'm close to Chris H on this - finnish... I simply can't stand making extra shafts for customers! The ring work, turning and all the rest is nice, interesting but geeezes sealing the rings with CA and putting CA finnish on - give me a break.... Don't get me started on putting finnish on a cue :-(

I do not like finish either.
I actually like the look of a matt finish on a cue, but that is just me. Everyone else seems to be like Magpies and want the shiny glossy stuff.

Finish for me also. Its getting better, but its the worst part of my cue making. Especially dark woods. Ive found some better ways to do it and im getting better, but my early finishes make me wanna puke. They suck soooooo bad. Scratches all over it, wavy look, just plain awful. Fortunately, those are what i use for house cues in my man cave. Lol.

perhaps a beer or 2 before you cut them............LOL

:p
seriously joe, it's always been my favorite part
seeing a cue "come to life" with clear makes my day

I love how the clear makes the grain of the wood pop, but i hate the process of it.

drink a glass of water with a spoon in it
stare at the spoon while drinking it
while holding your left leg up
that should cure it
oh wait, that's for some other ailment :p

Paying the bills ! Top that.

Seriously, I hate when I have to use chemicals . I do wear gloves and respirator when wiping wood with lacquer thinner or denatured alcohol.
I also throw the paper in a sealed trash can.
