So, seeing notes from multiple Bonus Ball players on Facebook that the new start date is May 2nd.
Just to clarify, no tentative start date has been set, nor will it until construction is back on schedule.

This is what I have been thinking, along with many other mid-level tournys. So, seeing notes from multiple Bonus Ball players on Facebook that the new start date is May 2nd.
No idea how long the season is going to run, but even if it only runs 12 weeks then it would step on...
World 8-Ball Championship
China Open
World 10-Ball Championship
Ultimate 10-Ball
Southern Classic
US Open One Pocket
US Open 8-Ball
US Open 10-Ball
I would like to see Bonus Ball succeed as much as the next guy (anything that makes pool better, is better for pool), but when is someone (any of the top players?) going to step up and say that it is not right for Bonus Ball to schedule with no concern for what they are scheduling on top of?
The game of professional pool struggles enough as it is. It does not need a promoter doing a "bull in the china shop" routine and stepping on already established promoters.
I completely realize that Bonus Ball is probably backed into a corner as far as scheduling, and the second half of the year is much busier as far as other events. But that is not the player's or the other promoter's faults.
If all of the above listed events have to proceed without all of the contracted Bonus Ball players, it could be really bad for the pro pool scene.
Just a thought.

Here I disagree. They can schedule on top of anything they want to IF they have the revenue stream and prize fund to back it up. Then they would become the new game in town, and others would schedule around them. For example, if a new IPT-like tour came out with an actual revenue stream and started offering six-figure payouts for first place, everyone would flock there.
Jennie... how life changing was it for those who zoomed up credit cards and personal loans to pay their entry fees into qualifiers to nowhere? How life changing was it for those who broke their family's bank to enter the qualifier, WIN it...and then couldn't even get their money back?
Care to guess how many vendors took a lump on the head?
I know you always stick up for KT because some players made money, but it's a better position to say "I am grateful some players got lucky and made money, but KT was still a thieving creep.". For some reason, you defend this POS scumbag, but it's always for the wrong reason....$$$.

I asked Deno and KT what their budget was numerous times before the Reno event and I was told "no budget- unlimited because that's how rich KT was.". Literally an hour after that, he announced a million dollar increase from $2 to $3M and then didn't pay, at first blaming it on tax reasons, then Ho, then Congress, while the entire thing was likely a money laundering scheme as noted in an FCC court docket.
Jennie... I like ya, buy try to defend people you would want to be associated with, not hardcore criminals. People were trying to cancel charges to their credit cards on services they wanted to end (unsuccessfully) which KT used to pay the pros. So he's a good person and great guy for outright stealing from people to hand out money to your pro buddies? You're defending that? You like defending thieves if their stolen money hits your bank acct?
Too bad the FCC didn't pull an SEC move and freeze all IPT payouts from everyone's bank acct and pool the money and pay it out to those who paid into the Ponzi scheme first.
If they had, and your bank acct hit -$5000, you would be whistling a different tune.
Back to BB...
Nothing about this contractor thing makes sense. Not one thing. I HOPE BB makes it as I want to see them succeed. That said, something isn't normal in the story. Expect it's done and if it happens, it'll be a pleasant surprise for everyone.

I understand that you feel ripped off. I get that. Really, I do.
But there are some who did not feel ripped off and in fact enjoyed the ride on the IPT train while it was on the tracks.
If I was on the receiving end of expending money and not getting paid, I would be pissed, but this didn't happen for us. We were treated good. There are other players who were treated good, as well.
Again, I'm sorry you were not made whole, but please allow me to express my thoughts on how the IPT affected us. Keith said it was the best pool tournament he had ever been to, bar none. Francisco Bustamante said he made more money coming in third place than he did in any tournament he ever shot in his life.
One similarity I see with Bonus Ball and IPT is that when Kevin Trudeau was confronted by the WPA to pay the sanctioning fee, he didn't buy into it, didn't want to be a part of it, felt his IPT tour was fine without it.
Bonus Ball also seems to me moving at a pace that suits them, without recognition of what was in existence before them. The players, sad to say, are going to go wherever the money is. Maybe the Bonus Ball people are doing something behind the scenes that will be magnificant to pool that none of us out of the loop are aware of. If that's the case, I will become a fan. Anything that helps pool move up, they got my vote.
Needless to say, we've got about $3,000 worth of fine suits, leather shoes, neckties, and vests that we purchased for the IPT. They're collecting dust in the closet.
You were treated well with the stolen money from others. Never forget that.

So what do you think about the $30,000 Kevin Trudeau gifted to each BCA Hall of Famer for attending one tournament in December 2005, just for showing up? Oh, and they had two byes in the tournament, as well.
Which included Efren getting two byes, and he won it.
I don't know that he stole money from credit cards to pay us. You're saying that. I don't have any evidence of that. I'm in a legal procession, and until I see proof positive, I'm ain't biting.
For that matter, I don't know this Larry guy, either.
http://www.scribd.com/doc/101836007/Trudeau-v-FCC-Cato-Legal-BriefsHe stole qualifier money by running qualifiers long after he knew it was over. It was well documented that they continued to charge cards long after services were cancelled. It was a ponzi scheme. Don't take my word....google the fcc lawsuit.

JAM, I get where you're coming from. Let's assume KT had the best of intentions (which is doubtful) going in. He put all his eggs in one basket (Ho & online gambling) and when that fell through, it would seem that priority one was saving his own ass and players got burned, and as much as we want to know the why it really doesn't matter. What happened to the IPT was the last thing pool needed and the blame clearly falls on KT's shoulders, be it for some combination of dishonesty and incompetence.
No matter what the whole story is, there was a right way things could've went down and a wrong way. KT chose the wrong way, and for that he will be persona non grata in the pool world for a very long time.
It lists it as a laundering scheme. Swell guy, eh?

There's a few affluent pool personalities today who most definitely accumulated their riches from avenues which might not seem kosher. Nobody says a peep to them for fear of getting verbally shot full of holes like Swiss cheese on this forum.
I guess it depends on which side of the fence you sit.![]()
Well, it really shouldn't JAM.
The fact that an illegal or immoral act was formerly made by one or several individuals or groups, regardless of whom, when, or where it was made, does not excuse, permit, or justify, the same illegal and/or immoral act from being made by another individual or group, especially when one person benefits from the harm done to another. Truth, legality, and morality do not change dependent upon "which side of the fence you sit" they are constant, and using that reasoning as an argument or belief system is equally irrational, immoral, and totally invalid.
Sorry, JAM, but although I usually like/enjoy/agree with most of what you post here, this one is just plain wrong.
Sometimes we are either too close or two far from the forest to see all the trees.
