If you watched the match, she doesn't play the 6-8 combo. That would have been a poor choice to play if she HAD played for that shape deliberately, which she didn't. But even still, a better option compared to what she did. Instead, she tries to bank to 6 off the side rail into the opposing corner.

Maybe it's me but people care too much what others say about them in the pool world. You can't please everyone. Who really cares what others think?
I have heard sht said behind my back that gets back to me from friends many a times about "you can't beat this person", or you are a "B player" etc etc....I just get a laugh. The only person I need to prove myself to is....myself. Sometimes it motivates me to play better, but at the end of the day its just a game that I love. Really?? At a pro/world-class level, 3-0 isn't a HUGE deficit. Its not ideal but its manageable. Play the safe and get BIH and she should be out with 3 balls left on the table. Especially when you've seen that your opponent isn't one to take risks with.
Instead, she sells out. Now she's down 4-0. And if you think being down 3-0 is bad, how do you like 4-0? My point is, she's playing on a world stage against world class females. And she took a shot that a banger would try.

I would like to wish Emily and the other ladies mentioned all the best and Emily don`t let people get you down because if they know it bothers you they will keep doing it.
Play it one rail on that side of the table limited her to playing for the side pocket, the 8 and 9 got the other two corner blocked. I guess she just under hit it, in that spot it would have been better to over hit it so you would have some sort of shot in the side.

Mia I understand your point and do agree almost 100%... It IS because she plays in more events than some of the higher skilled players... To me this shows more dedication to the tour and the game. Thus a potential sponsor sees someone who can only be bothered to show up for 2 of 10 events to wear their logo or someone who may not play quite as well who is there no matter what for all 10 events (Event #s are just for example) to promote the sponsor who has invested in them... One player is higher skilled the other player is more professional in my humble opinion.
Whether or not you are a professional really has little to do w/ your ability compared to the elites in your field. Is it not really how you treat your profession? Many of the top male players who happen to be some of the most skilled to ever play the game are not very professional at all.

Ms. Duddy, You need not defend yourself or others from the type of criticism that is directed your way. However, I am glad that you did. There are still too many (although less than there were) pool –know- it- alls that are eager to show how smart they are by judging others (usually using hindsight).
You know the type; they wax on ad-nauseum from the sidelines or in the chat rooms as to the ball they would have chosen instead, the safety that was obvious to them or how shocked they are that you could have missed the shot. They talk with authority as to who could beat whom, spewing the latest jargon (she doesn’t play at the same speed as....he would have to give weight to....etc. etc. etc. )to further enhance their credentials as experts and illustrate their genius in all things pool. When challenged they say that they are entitled to an opinion, and clearly, they are, but I humbly suggest that the opinions offered should be of the reasoned and educated variety (as many in this string have been) not offered in a snide or mean spirited way.
You have earned respect from others for putting in the effort to improve your game whenever you can (while also having a full time day job as I understand), for putting in your own money to travel to tournaments to compete with the best and for doing the best you can with the resources available to help promote the sport. To those who would challenge you to give more I would ask them to be specific in what else it is they think you should be doing that you are not.

What if the 2/10er finishes hi every time and the other is an also ran in 9/10?
Sponsors want winners and any sponsor who thinks it thru would surely conclude the 2/10er is the better ROI.

I know guys that wear dress pants and shoes to tourneys that can't run out...Earl having his greatest meltdown is still a pro all day long.
Most sponsors especially in pool get almost no ROI... So it becomes a matter of exposure... Based on exposure where is the ROI? The player who hits two events and actively promotes or the player who hits all ten? The 2/10er is 8 missed opportunities to promote to 8 new potential sales groups for the same $$$ or more than 10/10er is.
Would one hand out one $100 business card to one person or hand out 1,000 $ .10 cards to 1000 people to advertise and expect a ROI?
