Am I a D - Bag

Did your opponent expect you to shoot for him too?

If he doesn't want to do his job as the opponent, then it's on him. The rules are very clearly stated and well known. If you don't enforce them with him, how can you enforce them with anybody?

I call fouls on myself all the time (mostly because my playing partners don't know the rules and I'm trying to teach them), and generally play with above-and-beyond-the-call-of-duty sportsmanship...but in a tournament you're expected to pay attention and go by the book. IMHO.

Hey, thats a great name.

K, we got 2 members, anyone else?

Oh, I forgot to ask. Are we going to be a World Famous D Bag Club or just keep it North American.

I vote to keep it strictly North American. We can admit International Charters at a later date.

I call fouls on myself all the time also Dorman but this is a bit different. It is part of the game to purposely 3 foul a person if you wish and also up to your opponent to play along by calling you on it. If you can 3 foul me, good for you but you better make it part of your plan to warn me too.

Instead of having to say to your Buddy, "Don't be a douche". You look at him and say, "Be a douche".

Can I join the D Bag Club?
Is it like the Lock Society, only that we get do D Bag stuff to people instead?

I wanna be Blue Bag ok.

Scotch Doubles Thurs. The Douching starts tonight.

Where we are playing tonight, they only have a couple of pieces of chalk. I will start off by knocking the chalk into the pockets.
Accidentally of course.
Blue-Bag it is.Trust me in this club your going to have a ball(no phun intended).....well actually it was intended;)

No

ok so this past sunday at a tournement, I fouled for a second time. No warning was given. i fouled a 3rd time. As the gentleman was about to reach for the rack I asked what he was doing, he said i 3 fouled. I said he never told me i was on 2 ( he didn't I swear ) and the fact that that was the 3rd foul is irrelevant. He starts pissing and moaning to the point i gotta call the tournement directer to calm the man down. At another point in the match i froze the object ball at the cueball to the rail ( the object ball was not declared frozen ) and he again tried to say I fouled. I said he did not declare the ball frozen he once again flipped out. Am I a douche or does this guy need to learn to speak up.

Even though I would have accepted the fouls , I then would have been mad at myself for being stupid. I respect the fact that you play by the rules. I know I do make sure my opponent knows when he is on two, the guy you played will now know better.

I say strictly North American. How can we call ourselves d-bags if we accept everybody? Heck, I'd even go so far as to consider the North American chapter to be only the U.S. and Canada.

Congratulations you are technically correct. (The "best kind of correct" according to the bureaucrats in the "Central bureaucracy" in Futurama).

You are right according to the rules, but I would not feel much pride in a victory gained this way. I know for sure that if someone pulled this stunt while gambling for small change with me, I would accept it, and then never ever play with them again, but others may feel differently.

You didn't manipulate anything. He didn't warn you, therefor a 3rd consecutive foul did not cause a loss of game. He didn't confirm a frozen ball, so how's he going to pitch a fit about a frozen ball?

Agreed....not a D-bag. You're both playing by the same established rules and those rules have a set protocol. With that said I would never expect to be able to 3 foul a guy without getting his confirmation verbally that he's on 2. It's like the league patch the pocket rule. If it wasn't patched it's not a win. Seems silly on an obvious shot but that's the rule and if you're both playing with those rules in place who are you to change them even for perceived ethical superiority.

Now if you moved a ball by accident..ooooor possibly not and then replaced it in the wrong place, not a inch or so from where it was, but more like in front of a shot that was clear to make before you replaced the ball and insisted that that was where the fouled ball was before....Now that's a serious D-bag move! and you should have to wear a shirt that says" Always call a ref before I shoot" or something like "Ref magnet" or "F'it I'm a dishonest bastard with no dignity or honor" or " better Referee up my man" or "I need a witness!":)

Good shooting to you,

Kevin

I like the D-Bag club, for those that make sure the opponent is awake.

Since I'm also from MA, we should get special designations for starting it.

I'll be Hanging Bag. Not to be confused with Hanging Sack.

Maybe we can get a Pro to join our Club also.

Earl would fit in nicely. I love Earl and it would be an honor to serve beside him.

The fact that you're on here questioning what you did shows some remorse on your part.
IMO though, you were right to enforce the rules because if this guy takes the game as seriously as it seems he does, he needs to learn to speak up or he will continue to be taken advantage of.

By the way, purposefully not letting your opponent know they're on 2 fouls and then calling it on the 3rd foul can be considered a d-bag move too.

You're fine, no harm, 4 fouls (technically). Anyway it is always the opponents responsibility to call the 2nd foul. Frozen balls must be declared by the opponent.

At a recent tournament a player on our team runs to the end rail and sees that his ball is not frozen. Shoots and only drives the OB to the rail. Opponent calls foul and takes BIH (our player didn't want to argue about the low move). Opponent shoots in his last OB and stuns CB table length to scratch. 8B was sitting in front of the pocket. We all assumed this was karma.

OK, one thing left to do, start a Thread and we can recruit new members.

I don't believe that we need a Prez or a Sgt At Arms. Us D Bags are all equal, altho, there are different levels of D Baggery.
