Bonus ball the truth

So many American pros have no place to strut their stuff in the coming years. Some make a good living gambling, though they prefer not to have their names and winnings published.

Bonus Ball may have done irrevocable damage to the pool industry, as J.P. stated. What's up head is anybody's guess. It will take a miracle to bring pool back to where it was a few years ago, much less improve its status in mainstream America.

I would love to see that Handsome Oliver hunk and Sweet Jose Parica inducted into the BCA Hall of Fame someday, but I predict the BCA will soon drop the Hall of Fame festivities, just like they did professional pool. It's only a matter of time.

Lee your latest posts serves no purpose because most of the stuff in it has been comprehensively covered.

You have no hope of getting paid so you will get more value in that outcome than you will get by constantly berating them.

Time for a strategic withdrawal and concentrate on your other strengths.

Thanks for your insider's input Lee.

Seen from the outside, it looked like a few talented people were on the crew. But as time went by, they were isolated more and more by their own choices to do everything on their own. We interviewed Nathan for AZB and proposed many ways to highlight their venture but any info we needed took multiple contacts and days to get.

They turned down more than a few people offering to help and refused to blend in the industry. Clearly, they were too good for it.

Some people have failed in the past and come back to be better. But from what we have all experienced, I really hope Nathan would not try to work in this industry again. Sadly he's already got enough to make people forget about the Bonus Ball debacle, namely the Venom Trickshots II video coming soon. And people interested in this product have no clue what Bonus Ball is, simply because nobody has ever heard of it outside of these forums. Believe me, I travel enough to say this is 100% accurate.

It's a tough call because the guy's created some good stuff, but for all the judgmental calls he's made and the attitude he had with everybody when he thought he was in a power position, I think he should just apply for a position as an astronaut on the ISS, which would place him far away enough from us, at least from my pov.

Some people do not deserve any dime they make in this industry, and Nathan and Larry join the group of McKeys etc...

They have caused more harm to this industry than the money they will ever generate for it. End of.

Great post, you have put it how many people now feel.

Bonus Ball, just like the IPT that everyone loves to hate, brought hope to the pool players. They wanted it to work because they were tired of being broke dogs. Loyalty to those who supported them in the past flew out the window as they had visions of Bonus Ball dollars in their heads. Now look what's happened. :(

Here's a guy who was on top of the world in 2004 with a book, a movie deal, and sponsor from the steel industry. What could go wrong? He like so many other good pro players left the pool scene in search of greener pastures. How can pro pool blossom with no new blood and its existing lot diminishing?

Doug, if i get paid or not is now up to the labor department, and the IRS. It will be the small claims court (contractor) or labor board (employee) depending on what they classify me as, employee or contractor.

Larry has everyone in the company as contractors, to protect himself from numerous issues that could arise, but for me to claim what i am owed, i have to get clarification.

I contacted them numerous times to do it amicably and move on, but with the abuse i was getting, numerous people said i should tell the truth of what was actually going on, which i have. My Nan(Grandma) who was my idol, said "Tell the truth, and you will go a long way in life"

I have moved on and doing what i do best and relying on myself and no one else. I wanted to give my opinion on what was actually going on and why they will fail. I was giving an honest assessment from someone who actually knows whats going on.

JAM...Well that's a book excerpt, if I ever read one. Tres' excellente mademoiselle! Now...when do we get the REST OF THE STORY(S)!!! LOL

My foster father, Bob Wallace, owned a poolroom known as Hard Times in Newport Beach, the surfing mecca of the world. My favorite pastime when I wasn’t playing pool was fishing for shark and bonito at the pier. I was in the prime of my young career and used to boldly wear a T-shirt emblazoned with the words "The World's Got the 8," which was an open invitation to any living being on the face of the Earth.

Unbeknownst to me, the legendary "Filipino Invasion" was about to unfold, and I will never forget the first time I laid my eyes on the first wave to hit the shore: Jose "Amang" Parica.

Jose drifted in the side door of Hard Times unnoticed and abruptly parked himself on the rail. I checked him out in my peripheral vision while hitting balls, as he gingerly sipped on a hot cup of tea. And it wasn’t long before we exchanged eyeball contact.

Small in stature, he sure didn’t look like a pool player to me, wearing those hard leather shoes and a designer Ralph Lauren polo shirt tucked neatly in his pressed black khakis. So when he
politely asked me for the break playing 9-ball, I had no fear and readily gave it to him, not realizing who or what he was.

As the games progressed and I observed Jose’s shotmaking capabilities, I sensed a shark in the water. He moved the balls with grace and a perfect touch, and if he missed, I was staring at a safety or an impossible shot. It became clear that I was in a trap when the fickle railbirds, seeing me wounded, began to line up and bet against me. The final nail in my coffin was the inside floater, a shot Jose makes effortlessly to this very day.

Only a moment before Jose "Amang" Parica walked into my life, I considered myself invincible, like the novice surfer. But when I faced him on the field of green that day, there was something in his eyes that made me realize he could look on heights beyond my gaze, a characteristic of true champions. People say that he started the invasion, but I think they got it wrong. Jose "Amang" Parica actually was the invasion.

Anyone that knows pool and has a little biz sense would know BB was a fail way before it got anywhere near started...and 95% of the pool players on here that have been around the block a few times told them all that in the VERY beginning when they told us about it. The 5% that didn't must have been pro players.. Johnnyt

Scott Frost FB post

Scott Frost posted @ Michaela's FB, that all players have been paid & that it isn't about the $$$$$; it's the love of the game & promoting pool....

Well, with their crack marketing exec, they sure did a bang up job of promoting it with the other promoters.
I'm just a small business owner but one of the first orders of priority might have been to ensure that your ideas and game plan fit in with and
get accepted amongst other promoters. That way you had some backing if needed. Not alienate everyone in the pool world that may have been able to give you a leg up.

Not like, we're the new game in town, Proctologist Inc, step right up and we'll give you a hooping.

Remember, us lowly members of AZ were not the target audience anyway, remember that one?

then follow them like the trained little pigs that they are, it has allowed me to see more clearly what's happening.

I'm confused now. I had to find River Dance Monkeys for you and now I have to find UTube Trained Piggies.

Be back in a minute.

Piggies by the way are very smart and highly trainable.

Just for Jam, Introducing: Mud Slinger.

Now they have mini micro pigs. Everyone can have one now.
Not much bacon on them tho.

BTW, I heard that Chibbs and Co. are working with one of the many Las Vegas Magic acts. They are planning on making BB disappear.

You may very well get judgement but when it comes to enforcing it you will find the coffers as empty as a nun's date book.

I hear ya, but they do have bonus balls  and very expensive cameras

Hey, don't those camera's go to runout media? Lenny and Nathan will really have a bone to pick with you for messing with their plan B if bonus ball does not work out! I'm sure the investors want their share of computers and cameras too!

No one is going to go to court, that is silly. Lee, maybe I have you confused with someone else, but I vaguely recall when you first joined AZ a few years ago, you were jumping up and down about suing someone. Also, regarding being forced to live in your car due to BB not paying you, I also recall you posting something similar about living in your car "before" the BB game was even heard of on here.

Just cut your losses and walk away. Doing more at this point is a waste of your time and effort and health. Think of it like you matched up in a gambling session, was outmanned, and lost. You don't go chasing your money, you just pack it up and live to fight another day.

Speaking of going to court, how many times has it ever happened in the pool world? I can think of only a handful:

1. The raid at Johnston City in the late 60's, early 70's.
2. Earl getting his million (I think that went to court) (1990's)
3. The customer who sued a cue maker on the peoples court TV show for taking years and not delivering a cue. (1990's)
4. The member here on AZ who won 5K first prize in a tournament out west and was stiffed, and sued Annigoni. He won, but I don't believe he collected any settlement. (Late 2000's)

Anything else? I don't recall any lawsuits over the IPT, just a bunch of threats. Doesn't seem like pool players ever really make it to court, just make senseless threats about it.

Good advice. Take it Lee and retain some dignity.

i don't think it's about recompense @ this point. if Lee's "contract" has been "paid in full" (yea, yea - i know), then he's "free" to do as he pleases....

as for "ässets", claims are staggered @ highest to lowest $. and yes, tangible assets have legs. especially, if the Original BB filed CH 7 & reopened under New BB....dead deal. cut your losses & go on - which is what Lee's doing.

i can't help but wonder:
HOW MUCH WOULD IT HAVE COST BB FOR SILENCE
VS
WHAT IT'S GOING TO COST THEM NOW...?

PL <==== payback's a b*tch
