Scott Frost is Looking to Play Efren Reyes

..........

i knew this was coming. Scott for the longest time was the man in the usa when it came to 1-pocket but svb and his meteoric rise in the game made me figure it was only a matter of time before he dethroned scott and became the best pool player in the usa in... Everything besides banks.

14.1?

Given the last few times Shane and Scott played. You'd have to get 2:1 on the money to take Scott. Especially after Scott's hiatus and that horrific example of one pocket against Alex.

i would think that a job would beat the daylights out of gambling

if scott doesn't have enough now it is unlikely that more years will produce
different results, working worked for me,and has a much better track record

if pool didn't put a bunch of money in your pockets in the good years,
what will hard times do

my recommendation is keep the day job,why give your nest egg to efryn

on the other hand if a stakehorse is footing the bill,my bet is still on efryn

You post is great advice, but i think you and Scott have different ideas about how to live live.

Efren is "old" now?

SVB should definitely play Scott, I would pay for that stream in a second.

If SVB wins that then I would LOVE to see a huge money battle between him and Alex as that might be the match to see who the best 1-pocket player on the planet is.

After Alex beat Scott in their last match badly I cannot see Scott liking that action ever again. That match kind of made him disappear.

Scott might beat Efren now, but Efren now is not like Efren of old. Efren circa 2000 in 1-pocket was the best player to ever play the game IMO. Now he is old and has clearly lost a step or three. At Scott's age he should be close to his 1-pocket playing prime.

I wish I were as "old" as Efren...

It is about action, that is the purpose which also got an offer from John Mars backing Shane.

Is there a chance for this to happen? I think Scott is a huge dog at this point, Shane is a beast of a 1-pocket player with the heart of a champ.

I will bet on Scott! Someone offer me some odds. ;)

I think he meant games people actually play.

Ken

Yeah, but give Shane 2 months to decide to dominate that game too and who knows how good he gets. That is a game Shane could get very good at very quickly I think. I would expect him to win or come really close to winning a major 14.1 event in the next few years.

5 years ago who the heck saw him dominating in 1-pocket and having people wanting to bet on him even against Scott Frost and getting no takers? As much as 14.1 takes some knowledge I would say 1-pocket is traditionally known as the game with the largest learning curve in pool, and SVB learned it fast.

I am not saying that Scott can beat Alex, but the odds were stacked against Scott from the get go in that match at Hard Times.

Those Gold Crowns strongly favor players familiar with them. Alex had been there for a few days playing Efren and had them down. Scott comes in, practices for a while and gets down. Not too smart on Scott's part, but when you are an action guy with a stake horse, you do not make any money sitting on the bench, so you take a shot. Similar to what happened with Bobby and Efren.

Of all the Filipino's, Alex is probably the best one to match up with if you can win and Scott knows this. They (Filipino's) usually match up fairly snugly. Again, similar to Bobby and Efren.

I agree with almost all of your post, the only thing that is incorrect is that Alex played SVB not Efren. They played for three days on that table, probably about 30-40 hours before he played Scott. Shane had Alex down 15K, he was 10 game winner, five at 1K and five at 2K. Alex came back and won 8 games at 2K per game and ended up winning 1K. That is some heart! To be down 15K, 10 games of one pocket and come back and win a little money!

My mistake. I knew it was a top player and now I know it was even more impressive. Pretty good tuneup before another big match.

what about dennis orcullo? why dont someone play dennis?

In 1-pocket? I am sure he can get played by Alex or SVB in 1-pocket by simply asking. I am thinking Scott might like that action as well, Dennis shoots very straight but he is one guy that Scott can probably outmove.

I've seen a lot of Shane one pocket matches, and don't kill me, but I don't think he's as great a mover as people think. His game is very aggressive/shoot first mentality, and that can work well in short race formats.

But I know in the "longer" races on TAR, he's lost to Dennis, Efren, and Corey. And if I remember correctly, the last time he gambled with Alex, he jumped out to a big lead. But eventually broke even or might have lost a little as the games went on.

Yes... I would think that the current US Open 1pkt Champ. is easy action... everyone should go looking for him to make a score.

Efren is not that easy to get in touch with, doubtful he even carries a cell phone. When in the US he has handlers which is who this thread is for.

yes he has a cell phone. lol , but you can always call alex from stix and i am sure he will get efren the message
