2 Girls, a Mustang, and the Road

ppv

How much did you spend on the PPV?

I didn't spend a dime on the PPV since slomoholic was nice enough to stream out of the goodness of his heart. But I did stay home from a weekly domino ring game that cost me money by not showing up cause I wanted to sweat Rhea action. Plus I had a little side bet on it as well. So I think her not playing probably cost me a couple hundred. Thanks

When your on the road and you find out you made a bad game you have a choice......

Do you play anyway and lose your money.

Do you play because a few people want to watch the slaughter on free internet stream and lose your money?

Do you lose the money of the person that put you in the box even though you learned it was a bad game?

Just being on the road and having limited ability is pretty courageous,

I'm kind of glad that Rhea had trouble getting back there on time and the decision to play was made for her or she might have played.

I played on the road for years and until the money is posted there is no action. Rhea made a game that she had no chance to win.

I give her a pat on the back for not making a mistake.

People that think that this would have been a fair game don't know the half of it. Rhea was in a trap and she escaped.

Simple as that.

If you were going to your job today and you knew that you were not going to make any money, in fact there is a good chance that it might cost you or someone that is your friend a couple hundred dollars would you go to work that day if you had a choice?

Exactly!

This is her job like it or not. She's doing something that the average player would just love to do if they could.

Sharing it here on AZ is pretty cool in fact a first.

I teach and play. She just plays.

Tough action to say the least.

Once you get that money you have to keep it.

Get caught in a trap and it's in time to get out.

Ain't the first time a player of better ability had someone trapped and they got away.

Need to set a better trap next time.

Rhea had no chance to win that game. So why play? To give away hard earned money?

I don't think so........but she could have handled it a little differently but she's learning and just trying to survive on the road.

I think she's doing a pretty good job.

Bankroll is still growing.............

I had some fun shooting tonight with my friends. I also joined BCA league tonight, going to try to get enough matches in to play in the Texas state tournament by April. I did not gamble with anyone today. Just simply got in some quality practice.

So, what you are saying is that if you find that you got caught in a trap, it is ok to make excuses and not show up, but it is ok if you are able to catch someone else in a trap and take their money.

Geno the Enabler. Every time Rhea messes up, are you going to show up and make excuses for her?

Easy to take out some easy pickings and then duck out for a few hours.

Hahaha, can almost see where this little adventure is headed now. I mean, anyone that would duck out on car payments, rent etc, wouldn't have a problem making excuses and ducking out of a Trap now would they Geno Bambino.

Life in the fast lane.

Well spoken.

We are talking about Pool Players here, lets set our expectations accordingly. I repeat, Pool Players. We duck, dive, run, chase, trap, lie, beg, borrow, and steal. Nothing new here. Protocol is what I call it.

But she could have told us she was gonna be a no-show, but then again- she is a Pool Player.

Note to self: remove Rhea for consideration for Board of Ethics Committee.

Chris

This is not about playing pool it is about gambling. There is where it all goes downhill. Folks don't want to show there true abilities against each other they just want to hide them so they can cheat and get the opponents money. It's not about two great players matching up to see who can win it's about sharking, hustling, making moves and getting the cash. Rhea obviously felt that she was getting hustled and backed out right or wrong it was her choice to not play. Since pool is her only source of income she did what she thought was right for her.. JMO.

Funny story, at least IMO: years ago a friend of mine went to a show to see the comedian "Gallager", you know, that crazy guy who's act seems to center around him smashing watermelons and other fruit with a sledge hammer and spraying the audience with pieces of fruit. Well, my friend sat in the front row and, sure enough, got sprayed with cantaloupe or melon.

Wouldn't you know it, in spite of knowing what was going to happen here, he acted surprised and upset. Hello....that's the act. What does he expect?

Here there is no price for a ticket to a really good show and we should be grateful to Rhea for inviting us to "travel" along and be part of her saga, but if you want to watch the free Rhea show, I guess getting "sprayed" occasionally is a small price to pay for a great seat to a great show.

Let's just hope that it's not too often.

Enjoy it.

Rhea is a very honest person and fun to be around in real life, The internet might be a little difficult to see this side.

She did go back in her life on the thread and expose some things that she did that might be considered a little shady but that is over a lifetime.

In some of the same situations many of us might have reacted the same way,

I'm sure we could all come up with a moment or 2 in life that we're not real proud of. But we learned from our mistakes.

In the 3 months that I was with her on the road trying to teach her how treacherous some players can be she screwed up by trusting them and got burnt real bad. I let her have it by coming down on her hard. There is no replay so you have to try and get it right the first time.

She learned some and made a mistake with this guy she felt. Or maybe didn't get back in time to play. Either way she felt she was in a bad game. Another trap.

No excuse, just trying to survive out there on the road.

Just think for a minute, limited ability, traveling on the road playing the game that you love everyday so you can to get better to play with the pros someday maybe.

It's a tough dream and she's living it.

I myself am enjoying reading the thread myself.

I don't have a dog in any of these fights and feel kind of bad when my integrity or hers for that matter is attacked for trying to explain how it is out there.

Walk on her shoes out there for a week and see how you like it. No car, a cue stick and a dream.

You might just be real happy after about a week going back to the safe life that most of us have.

A house, wife, kids, bank account, job and many other things that go with stability.

I didn't get to watch the match either but it didn't ruin my life.

There is no book of rules out there just like there are no rules in most bar fights. Sometimes the dirtiest fighter comes out on top. Some people would say how dare that guy kick my friend in the head. That's not fair.

One of the secrets of being on the road is picking your fights correctly. The better you play the less you have to worry who you play.

I think our girl out there is doing just fine.

funny

No one was going to give her a cut of their gambling winnings.

There was no PPV so she wasn't getting a cut of that.

So why does anyone feel she owes them anything?

I was waiting to see the match too just as I do about every night at the pool hall. And guess what happens about 50% of the time.

the only bad thing I saw is she didn't get a chance to lose any of SC5's money.

And Barking you start a thread calling people nits then bark at a girl that you play about twice as good as? Big gambler you are.

so your trying to say you would play in a game you know you where trapped in. I call bullshit. Do you feel better barking at a girl you know you can destroy? Typical pool player, pot calling the kettle black.

Nobody is saying she had to play the match. Just be upfront and not waste anyones time. Right before the match saying she haf to run to the store real quick and not come back is the lame part.

Pretty much GX, thats what I meant.

Well, unfortunately we don't have a hall any longer, and when we did, no one gambled much and when they did, it wasn't for that much.

I never gambled for much myself. I may have been born at night, but it wasn't last night.

Admittedly, I am not that knowledgeable on gambling at pool like others are here. If I were gambling, I most likely wouldn't allow myself to get in over my head.

If I did, it would be a lesson learned not to do next time around.

I've noticed from the Gene Rhea thread and the Rhea oh it's on thread, that you seem to blame "friends" a lot, in fact that is what you do when something doesn't go your way.

Anyone else noticed that?

I don't have a car. My intention was to go to Walmart and get dropped back off. The driver, a friend of mine, had her own separate plans, we waited in a long line at the money center so I could deposite a good chunk of my bankroll for safe keeping. Then we waited in an even longer line for the self check out, yes the Austin Walmart was extremely packed and under staffed. Then we waited in a long line for pop eyes drive through, then she went home to eat, feed the dogs, feed the fish, then dropped me off at skinny in that order.

Going to Tyler Texas this weekend and then headed to Reno, might stop in Albuquerque on the way.

You don't even know who I am? Do you need references to people I've matched up with and how? I was offering action. I would play anyone even pros. Does that make me shoot better then the 90 speed I am?
