lol, it's not like they were playing for their lives. A guy lost $10K. That's really not a lot of money...
Well, I guess I'm alone in believing that internet grudge matches, while entertaining, are pitiful.

But leaving in the hypocrisy.

Well, John, now that you busted that live-stream virginity, it's time to branch out. The U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship has been reduced to 128 players with $1,000 entry fee. I think you should get in.
This year, I have a bucket list, and I hope to see you there. :wave2:
That might be the most absurd thing I have ever read on this site and I have been here for a long time and have read some really dumbass things. 10k can change lives very easily.
I know which one I am.![]()
Care to explain?

John, I replied in a PM to you about a request you made a few months back about using scrap leather for something pool related. I didn't receive a reply.
I live in Des Moines, a hop, skip and jump from St Louis.
Can we meet soon? I can make the road trip, if you can't. Big Dog's is a nice pool hall here in town, btw.

I agree with you that things should never get to this point. I mean I think that grudge matches can be ok and can be fun and should be fun. I think we should have more grudge matches without having them be motivated by intense hate and afterwards everyone can be cool and realize that everyone has good qualities.
But at the end of the day it's two average players who otherwise play average one pocket, one of them with a higher average, who decided to make it interesting to the tune of ten thousand. Nothing really pitiful about it in my opinion. It's a way to release the pent up frustration and it was fun for me.
I think it's great to see two people get out from behind the keyboard and show off what they can and can't do. We all talk a lot of pool and we sometimes talk a lot of trash and once in a while we need to step up and back it up or decide to be more peaceful.![]()
I think Tate's point would have more validity if John and Lou ran into each other one day and decided to play for $10k. But really, even putting the possible additional sales aside, what I see John and Lou both having gotten is a pool experience that few of us will have: 4 months in which they both got to work intensely on their games, shoot with all the one pocket greats they could find, work on their mental games, and then get to play on the AccuStats stage in front of the pool world.
Each got to do all of that and have a chance of getting paid for their fun to boot. John was the underdog, clearly, But he wasn't steamrolled, and had chances to win. I.e., John had a 1/3 chance of +$10k and a 2/3 chance of -$10k, so in expectation, he paid about $3500 for that experience (plus his losses over the course of 4 months of training).
If work would allow it, I would love to spend four months playing 30-40 hours of 1P a week against the best players I could find, and then play on the big stage. I don't know how much I would improve, but I think it would be significant. And I would carry that benefit for the rest of my life. Maybe I should start auditioning candidates for the role of Internet Enemy(TM)?

We can restart the conversation - I often lose some threads in between the volume and the drama (drama I fuel).
If I am heading towards Des Moines then I absolutely will arrange to meet you.
