Billy Incardona - Short Rant

Only heard him once, and I was amazed. Billy is fine with me, Cotton too and most all the others I have heard on internet streams.

This thread reminds me of listening to Ralph Kiner many years ago.

I grew up in New York and used to watch the Met games on WOR TV 9 back in the day.

Back in the early 70's Ralph Kiner was the Mets announcer .. these broadcasts were limited to the NY market...

Well it seemed the Mr. Kiner developed a pretty steady drinking habit in his older age.

His words would start slurring by the fifth inning and many nights you could not even understand what he was saying by the end of the game .. LOL

This did not go on for just a few games, but for 3 or 4 seasons!

I guess it turned out that folks found listening to a drunken announcer more entertaining than watching the Mets.

Times have changed I guess .. I wonder what all the younger PC folks would of had to say about my boy Ralph.
Larry Merchant has been doing boxing commentary for HBO and Top
Rank with a bottle of Jack under the table for two decades
at least.

Reminds me of Harry Carrey the Chicago Cubs announcer. He would sing "Take me out to the ball game" during the 7th inning stretch and be pretty much in the bag by then. The fans loved him!

As far as Billy and this thread the only thing to say is stop :deadhorse: and everybody get back to what you were doing!

Billy is my favorite commentator in the business. And I'm sick and tired of all this PC crap. Bottom line if you don't like the show, don't watch it. The market will settle itself. I'm just sick and tired of people making a mountain out of a mole hill with words. I didn't see the Asian players falling over from the indignanty of this terrible insult. Get a life.

I agree with you.

These daycare babies need to grow a set of nutts and stop crying about every little thing they don't approve of. PC people are candy azz cry babies.

This PC crap starts at the top with opinions on everything from how one should act to what we should say to what we should wear.

Its not that big a deal, other than really, Ko Pin Yi is not that hard to pronounce or remember.

If he had any relatives and friends watching the stream and they caught it, it just might solidify how they have been viewing Americans for years anyway.

No big deal. Its not as if it would change their opinions anyway.

I wasn't aware ping pong was racist. Who knew. I'm so tired of this over sensitive culture we have become. Makes me want to offend people on a daily basis. Put your big boy pants on. Get the hell over it and quit crying.

Somebody call the whaaaambulance.

The Campbell Soup kids are now skinny, Trugreen Chemlawn lost the Chem, Kentucky Fried Chicken is now just KFC so people won't focus too much on fried, and just the other day I heard an Ace Hardware commercial in which they now say folks. I liked and had no problem with "Ace is the place with the friendly hardware man".

The world's gone just a little mad.

best,
brian kc

Always looking forward to hearing you commentate, Billy. And thanks for posting on AZBilliards. Takes a thick skin to be a name and keep posting on here :)

A lot of people on here would be in a fight every hour in my old neighborhood in NY. Johnnyt

The only ones who did not accept Billy's apology are starved for attention. These posts are very telling. Some of you may regret your posts, just as one regrets certain statements. I wonder?

Maybe when we start paying our "professional" sports commentators and professional players more, we might be able to expect more professionalism out of them.

Roger

Those guys were paid? Do we know that? I'd think it's more likely their expenses may have been picked up, but what do I know.
Realistically that stream was a pretty small audience by any standard even the internet.

I'm going to keep this real and apologize before hand in the event that I hurt some ones feelings.

Did I say something stupid when I referred to Pin as Ping and then without thinking added pong..yes.

Did I intentionally make that statement knowing it was bordering what some would misinterpret as a racial comment..Absolutely not.

Am I sorry that I made that comment..yes I am
, however, in no way was it directed as a racial slur and those who know me, and my track record as not only a commentator but also as a human being knows that I would never say that with under

tones of such.

I would like to apologize to first, any one that felt that what I said was one of a racist. I also would like to apologize to Mark Griffin and Justin Collet, two people that I hold in the highest regard for who they are and for what they stand for and accomplished. I would also like to add that I really appreciate all the people that supported me and their understanding on this highly controversial subject.
For what it's worth, I in no way am upset or angry with the people that accused me of making a racial comment, however, maybe a little dissapointed that they would imply that because if they truly knew me or my history they would know that that's not me. Sorta falls under the same line of thinking that all commenttors should know importnt facts about the players that are playing

Don't sweat it Billy, everyone here or almost everyone here knows what kind of man you are!

A DAM GOOD STRAIGHT UP MAN!

Mr Incardona,

No problem at all with you referring to Pin as Ping. An understandable mistake that anybody on Earth could make. You following up with "Pong" seems to have been the egregious error here.

As I wrote previously in this thread, I believe you had or have a black girlfriend and I've never considered you to be a racist but you also cannot make comments on livestreams of this nature. Surely you must understand that. You are a paid professional and you must conduct yourself as one.

ONB

Well aren't you full of yourself.
Just how many other words does one associate with ping besides pong, truthfully I can't think of another word.
In other words if he said ping by mistake there's no way he just said pong because that's where ones mind
might go out of association. Are you really that dense that the only explanation there can be is he's a racist. Get over yourself.
