An Open Discussion about an improper Banning

watchez -

hey um...maybe some context might help.
maybe not. I don't know.

maybe you could explain that you love this forum/website so much, it pains you to see these issues escalate to this point.

you see, some of the people that hate our (U.S.) president the most, are the ones who love this country and want to see it succeed the most, but naturally the reaction to those that hate on the president is not well received because the average joe doesn't understand why someone might be so vocal, when riding the pine and accepting the status quo is soooo much easier.

im saying this because I'm one of those that cares, about this site and you as well, as a contributor.
id hate to see you walk away or get sent away simply because you cared too much, without anyone understanding this fact.

here's to better communication by and for everyone.

Can I be a guest host on your radio show sometime? Kinda like when Johnny Carson would go on vacation and Jay Leno would fill in.

I'm starting to think that punter is another login for Mr Wilson. It all makes sense now.

Apparently the only way to get someone to compare the IP addresses would be to report a post, too much to ask a mod to actually figure things out on their own.

Wedge had been warned less than 2 weeks beforehand about the exact thing he was banned for. I was on my way into the admin to ban him, when I saw that Wilson had beaten me to it.

Ask me again in a month or so and I might think differently, but the ban was definitely called for.

Thank you for the reply

I can tell you he is very remorseful and realizes what he did was unwise. He told me what it was and I agree that this should not to be taken lightly by AZ Billiards.

Tell you what, we'll check back with you in a month. I don't think there will be any further issues with him and generally that is the point.

Chris

You would gain a new listener of you have watchez and the saw on the show to discuss az moderators.

Me, you and Watchez could have a Triple Smart Keepin It Real Roundtable on all kinds of topics..... Not sure the general public could take it.

We could rank the AZ moderators and talk about who we think is the greatest AZ moderator of all time is ......oh wait, there is only two of them.

Don't forget chucklez, that fool be deleting all sorts of shit ninja style.

A while back when the Sale Forum went thru some changes, people were commenting on it.

I remember Mike saying that instead of just posting that you don't like it, why not give your opinions and suggestions.

Instead of fighting with each other in this Thread, why not use this opportunity to offer suggestions on what you believe would be positive changes in the Moderation of the forums.

They're watching this thread closely anyway.

Watchez, you mentioned that you would like to help Mod AZ. Turn it around and let Mike know some of the things you'd like to see done differently.

This is the perfect opportunity instead of anyone making off the cuff remarks in other threads that will never be seen.

I already got my wish. That Warnings become Public for all to see.

I would also like to see that no one would be able to start a Donation Thread. Lately, those turn sour right from the beginning, which usually results in the OP going back to their Face Book page and posting what a bunch of A Holes we are on AZ.

If Face Book is so great, let them solicit over there in a more controlled environment. This isn't UNICEF.

The last one was to send someone to a tourney that had maybe 5 posts on AZ, and three of them were asking for donations.

The one before that was for help funding a funeral for a pool players aunt. I don't ever remember that particular player ever posting here.

The majority of these members never contribute anything anyway. They are like a cat that you give a bowl of milk to on your back step. They'll be back everyday at 3pm looking for the same.

I come here to take a break from every day life. Not to pay someone elses Bills. I know that there are obviously certain exceptions. I have seen some of our members down and out and the Family comes together to help. That is the way it should be.

If you have something to sell, announce it in the Main Forum to let everyone know. Then take your sales to the forum where everyone else has to go to sell their wares. Got just a tad carried away the last time with multiple threads on a weekly basis. One Thread is all you need. And that is disrespectful of the site owners as well as the membership.

You see Mr. Blue -- when you have issues you can look at it in one of two ways. You can look at the person and blame them. That is what a weak person, manager, or leader does. They think they are being strong but that is where they fail. It would be like if you car wasn't working and you stood there, yelling at your motor. Would that fix the problem? What you need to look at is the process and why the process failed. You need to fix the process before you can fix the person. And then, if you have someone within the pipeline that cannot help assist for the process to be corrected or adjusted, then you make the decision to remove that person.

Perfectly fine Watchez. I agree cause that is pretty much the way I see it oft times.

And how would you implement changes to effect your sentiments?

Lay down the rules exactly as if your were a Mod.

We can play nice here and maybe give the Mods something to think about.

If someone disagrees with anothers opinion, allow them their opinions and just agree to disagree in this instance. Or at least give them a decent rebuttal. That wasn't directed at you. Just a general suggestion so we don't start fighting.

I know Punter. That's funny. I love that movie too.

But see, we started already. Lets not try to hurt anyones feelings. Watchez already mentioned that he threw his hat in the ring.

Moderators haven't been picked yet so he is still in the running as much as the next person.

That's why I said, Pretend that you are a Moderator for one post and lay down the rules.

Watchez and myself have never PMed, so we don't know each other, yet I still like the majority of his contributions on AZ.

I like Watchez and like to read his posts, as much of the time they are on a subject of interest to me. And my above post is poking a little fun, although I think if anyone tries Wilson's job, it may very well be like Bruce Almighty. You will never please everyone.

Yeah, as far as I know, we are OK, I think he's a real hoot.

that scene is engaging - are you suggesting a slight problem with authority figures?

Nice, that scene is engaging - are you suggesting a slight problem with authority figures?

One thing about this human defect, it works it's self out pretty quickly. ;)

I think Watchez taking over as Mod may go a little like this movie.

Ok, everyone seems to want public warnings, so let's start here. You are on one.

Mike
Thank you sir, I think doing this publicly is wise for a multitude of reasons and will pay off in the end.

Might I suggest that when giving the public warning/ban it would also be a good idea to quote only the part of the post that is the cause for it, and then briefly list the reason for said warning/ban instead of just saying "warning", just so there is no room for confusion (or for someone to claim confusion).

Something like:
"Warning for personal attacks/insults." or
"Warning for racist comment." or
"Six month ban for intentional baiting and antagonizing, was already warned about this a month ago."

With a brief statement like the above combined with quoting only the offending part of the post there will be zero doubt or confusion in anyone's mind about what was against the rules and/or that you had issue with. Thanks for your consideration.
