Should Earl be ejected given the "evidence"

Based on the new "Video", should Earl be ejected?

In general no player was calling any shot during the tournament except "tricky" shots. There may have been one or two players occasionally calling obvious shots, like the two ball a diamond from the corner and straight in, which for some reason I find really annoying.

Do you think things could have been different had Earl not called anything?

Says the guy who's upset because someone won't stand up for a flag.

Man up!

It's a bit worse disrespecting your country that sharking an opponent in a pool match, that's all hes saying. But as ususal, Colin is a hero now, and Earl is the bad guy... figures.

I'll watch Earl every day and twice on Sunday than watch that coward try and throw a football.... not that he will have much chance sitting on the bench :p

According to Dragon Promotions this is an "inning-ending mistake"

for me it is up to the promoter and no one else. Either it is a rule or it is not? there is no in between. So, in my opinion which means nothing, Earl would be packing it in.

What I find more disturbing is the "Lying" to the referee. So what the referee missed the call? When confronted by the referee about what happened it was "untruthful" and that to me is enough for disciplining the player. But, the majority think otherwise. Patriotism over ethics is pretty sad!

I don't know if he did lie. I have called the wrong ball, while clearly shooting at another ball, and I thought I called the one I was actually shooting at, but I didn't. I thought I did but the "guys" (yes I have done it more than once) I was playing said "no you call so and so ball". Either way, I kept shooting because it was clear what I was actually shooting at. I do the same for the other guys too. Yes, it's happened more than once to me. No big deal. They simply meant one thing but said something else.

Also, on the shot in question. There is NO WAY Earl is trying to make the two ball.

BTW... it's not a foul.

My actual question in the whole thing is:

In a world championship. Is it an inning ending mistake?

Answer: It is, if the Ref hears it called wrong. But he didn't hear it. The the video doesn't make it clear. To bad for the other guy. The Ref should have been listening or ask the shooter to re-state the called ball clearly. Or, at least Jayson should have. It appeared that Jayson just waited for Earl to shoot so he could call him on it.

wow

How many times do people have to say the rules are very "Strict and literal" you call the 2 ball then the 2 ball "MUST" be pocketed in the pocket indicated.

That did not happen, regardless of "intent" that is the rule per Charlie Williams and the primary reason Jayson called a foul.

I am amazed at how many do not get it that Jayson was only playing by the rules he was told! If they told him it was 100% intent and not a strict rule, do any of you truly believe he would have jumped up and called a foul?????????????????

Really who is delusional about the situation and circumstances?

how many times does this have to be said???

It's Charlie Williams tournament and Charlie Williams' rules. WPA and BCA and any other acronym you want is irrelevant and don't apply!

You posted this 3 times and 3 times it does not apply when Charlie Williams and the crew working the event tell the players the rule is a "strict and literal" meaning and players are warned before the start. Make matters even worse the referee re-affirmed the rule earlier in the match making it even a stronger case and reason to call the foul.

How many times do we have to say. TD has final say, he made final decision. He made his ruling based on all the facts, and a little common sense. Game over. Enough already.

you sir are preaching to the choir! I have said the TD made the best decision he could based on the information he had!!!!

Never said anything different!

My comment was regarding the "New" video and proof of what actually happened. Whether any consequences are to come from the new evidence has/was/is my only point and area of discussion. many want to "DEFEND" the outcome and ignore the ethical issues and sportsmanship angles and concerns.

When people blame Jayson for making a call as instructed by the officials and per their guidelines and come on here vilifying the young man is more than unjust and wrong in my opinion.

Oh, you mean the video that showed Earl point to the 10 ball and then to the pocket. Yep, we all saw that too, as did the Ref, and Jayson. Not much else to talk about imho.

I knew you would have to get the last word in. Just won't let it go!

Well, I am saying uncle!

I would have loved it if Earl would have given the table to Shaw and then had a complete melt down when Shaw didn't call the next shot.

Shaw knew Earl had caught a gear and tried to pull a move to win because it was clear he wasn't going to win on the table.

Let's not get silly here. By all rights, Shaw was running out when, at 185, he got one of the unluckiest scratches imaginable. He played an under the rack break shot, and the cue ball went through the cluster of balls and went right into the side pocket for a scratch. As bad a roll as you'll ever see. Without this freakish roll, Shaw runs the game out. Earl had come up short in this match and only divine intervention gave him a turn at the table he hadn't earned.

How does one go about "earning" a turn at the table??

Hello

Should Earl be disqualified for unsportsman like conduct? The video clearly shows him calling the 2 ball!

Based on the "new" video evidence that clearly shows Earl's unsportsman like conduct, he should have some consequence for "Lying" about what actually happened!!!

KD

If you played straight you would know as every commentator and ref agreed that wrong ball called by the rules was a non issue. The bum watching was the issue. If everyone knows what you are shooting that is the ball you are playing.
The opponent was out of line and looking to escape any way hook or crook.
That was the issue to any player. The mouth interrupting Earls session at the table.
He showed why pool will never escape being a second class game played at it's best by scum that prove it when the lights are on.
Sad that anyone enthusiastic about growing pool could think any other way.
Nick :)
