new "Top 10 Pool Shots Every Player Must Know!!!" video

It seems like people like it better when I shoot more and explain/illustrate less.

Regards,
Dave

I actually see this, along with many of your other videos as being very balanced. The contact points on the cue ball is shown, the action taken with the cue is explained and the audio\visual element is clearly defined.

You can never have too much analysis, if the goal is to improve. And your analysis is second to none.
Thanks for the feedback.

Dave

Thanks Dr Dave

FYI, I just uploaded a new YouTube video demonstrating the top 10 shot types that every pool player must know and master (all in 10 minutes). Here it is:

NV J.10 - Top 10 Pool Shots Every Player Must Know!!!

Here's the list of shot categories covered in the video:
1. Accurate/consistent/reliable/controlled stun/follow/draw
2. English shots
3. Rail cut shots
4. Throw shots
5. Drag shots
6. Carom/kiss shots
7. Kick shots
8. Bank shots
9. Jump shots
10. Massé shots

As with the BU Playing Ability Exams, all of the shots in this video are useful to practice as a playing ability test (1 point for each shot) or or as a pool workout. Maybe I'll use this collection of shots to create BU Exam III - Pool Workout Test (with a diagram for every shot). What do you think?

Enjoy,
Dave

Wow, very informative for beginners like me
Thanks Dr. Dave

Well, I've waited roughly 24 hours now. Can I order the "BU Exam III - Pool Workout Test" DVD yet?

:-)

I think it would be a terrific idea! Can't wait!!

-That was more than 10 shots! ha ha.

-Yes, less talking, more shooting is better.

-No, don't make this series of shots a practice drill. No one will do them. We are lazy, you should know that after your BU series;)

-No, don't make this series of shots a playing ability test. No one will do them. We are lazy, you should know that after your BU series;) And most importantly, you can become better at static drills, but still not improve in dynamic drills like the ghost, or in actual games.

-Thanks for the continued contributions!

-All of the above IMO of course.

It won’t be a DVD, but I will start working on creating the Exam III shot-diagram document. I’ll post it on the BU website when it is done. It will consist of 50 shots from the video in the 10 categories. Like the other BU Exams, the document will be freely available. Each shot will be worth 2 points for a total Exam score of 100. Maybe we’ll use Exam III for a future BU Exam Challenge.

Thank you for your supportive post,
Dave

It’s actually about 50, but still in the 10 categories.

-Yes, less talking, more shooting is better.
That’s the sense I’m getting so far.

You are probably right. But I’ll do it anyway. I’ll be able to use it with my students and maybe in our BU Advanced Summer School Boot Camp.

I might need to cull the list a little (maybe to 25 shots worth 4 points each) to make the Exam length more reasonable.

-Thanks for the continued contributions!
Thank you for your input. I appreciate it.

Now get back to working on those BU Exams! :grin-square:

Dave

...
The DVD projects with Tom Ross, Randy Russel, and mostly Bob Jewett did take a lot of time and effort, but I enjoyed every minute of it. ...
Even when you were screaming at me and the veins were popping out of your neck?:p

Making videos is like making sausage, except more gets left on the floor.

-- Bob <-- takes direction poorly

Well stated. So true.

And I would second that thought,,

Very good video.
I did learn one thing I never knew.
And I've been playing 57 years.
Who says an old dog can't learn new tricks.
