Diamond versus Brunswick

Still waiting.............
Anybody got a pic of a pocket comparable to a Diamond pocket?

I'd gladly provide an overhead photo of my Gabriel's pockets, which do like very similar except for the material used for their pocket liners, but I have no clue how to post a photo taken on my phone to include with my reply.

I own a 9' GC but every time I play on a Diamond i wish I had one. Don't get me wrong I love my GC but I really want a Pro-Am.

Use the paperclip button above the text box when you reply.

Then you gotta diireect the post to the pic location in your phone. Kind of a pain to figure out, depending on what phone you have, but at least you only have to figure it out for the first time once.

Chris if you are the type of guy who wants to experiment and try a few things on your own there is a "test" area on the forum. I went there to learn how to post pics years ago, and have it down now.

I plug my phone into my laptop and transfer pics to the hard drive and then work off my computer.

I do believe that I can do everything from my phone if I wanted to experiment with it.

The test area is a place we all go so we don't embarrass ourselves on this forum:o

Like everything else there are several ways of doing the same thing so finding away that makes sense to you is the secret.

Here is a link to it.

Do the flat rail tops not bug you? I much prefer the rounded gc profile

Diamonds are not flat but they do not have the drop that the GC's have either.

If I had the room I would own both tables for sure.

Here is a pic of the rail profile

... As an aside, as a Brunswick shareholder, I find it interesting that in Brunswick's quarterly earnings releases, one can literally find no mention of the words "pool" or " billiards" and they report their efforts in our arena under the "other" category, lol. They are a boat manufacturer that also makes fitness equipment. The fact that they continue to make the gold crown is literally a mystery to me. I'm happy to own their shares, but not their tables. If they start making one that is better in form or function to the diamond professional, then I'll buy that, as I always want the best value for my money.

Brunswick gets around 1% of revenue from pool now. They sold all their bowling business. Pool is now lumped in with exercise equipment as a reporting category. Sadly, they see no need to promote the game.

I'd like to have 1% of their billions a year in revenue and so would you.
I'd trade 100% of Jay's Billiards and Sports Bar for that and still come out a few million ahead.

Sales are about $5billion per year. "Free cash flow to date" was $129 million in their last quarterly report.

There are many ways to embarrass ourselves on this forum (the irony of this statement is not lost on me).

Thanks for the tip.

Here’s a pocket pic, Chris
This is my second favorite pocket...make it leather instead of plastic.....
...it would be equal to a Diamond.

And Gabriels are a terrific pool table, also their carom tables.

Evidentally you are into them. I dont like that ugly oak color. Refinish it red mahogany or ebony the new pockets are nice, then we are talking!

Trent

My favorite table esthetically would be a Brunswick Anniversary with Diamond rails...
...reconfigured to suit the Anniversary look.

...and fill the hollow legs with sandbags.

For me, I’d have to go all the way back to the Klings and Arcades to find a table more
pleasing to my eyes.....but they can keep the bolting system.

What would it cost to replace the cushions on a 9' Diamond Professional red label to the cushions currently available on Diamonds? Installed, ready to play?

If the table is disassembled for moving, would this be a good time to do it?

There is a 9' Professional with matching light on ebay for $3500 or best offer. Looks outstanding, but a red label.

I believe it cost me a little over $1,000 to do just that, along with new cloth and re-level my table, thanks to West State Billiards and Donny Wessels.
He came one day and took the rails and cloth off. He returned the following week with all new rails (smaller pocket openings reduced to 4.25") and cloth. This was about 3-4 years ago. My table plays great, thanks to Donny and Steve Leistokow.

Yes, looks very similar to our Gabriel's Signature Pro tables including the identical stain color. Only difference is ours have 4 separate corner wood/rail pieces, kind of like the Diamond corner pieces. Looks like the side rails and end rails on the table shown just meet on a corner diagonal. I don't know if that's a newer or older model, but mine are nearly 20 years old now.

Great info, Jay. Thank you.

Thanks for the link, RC.
