Shaw/ Bergman- OFF

I also agree it's a crap thing to happen. Past experience is what's making him stay home, I'd be leary too.
Jason
Past experience like getting his brains beat last time he played JB or his sub par showing at Derby? He clearly is not at the top of his game and is flat out scared to play this match.

If the room owner and Bergman have already agree to change it back to a standard 4.5 inch Diamond what is Shaw complaining about? How is any of it a no if JB isn't involved and Shaw walks into a standard table?

There are pics of the pockets and it's 4 1/8 anyway. Jeez.

Yes, no doubt Jayson, who got to Round 10 in the nine ball at Derby City, is trembling at the thought of playing Bergman, who got all the way to Round 6.
What, after all, could be more scary than that?

Yes. Shaw is on slump. Mosconi, Derby and lately on every tournament he dogs matches.
All that BS ia a excuse. After he tried that call shot BS against Earl on 14.1 worlds I knew more BS is coming. Lost respect. I hope more peoples can see trough of his actions.

The fact that JB took him to school the last time they matched up and the fact the JB just won against Cheng. And clearly he is trembling... as evidence of him running with his tail between his legs to get as far away from this match as he can.

Contracts people...this is how adults do business. A side has to assume a risk and terms have to be agreed to. Time for pool to grow up in the way business is done. Good faith is still faith. I don't see how this doesnt happen more often

I have to disagree with you on that one - Earl clearly called the 2-ball, and that ruling should have gone against him, and if it had, you would really have seen someone show their a$$.

Bingo. When does the promoter get some heat for obvious negotiated aspects of the match not being met.
And the offered fix? Old rails/cloth standard diamond pockets...taken from another table and dumped onto a newly clothed bed of the tv table is also a non starter for anyone that has played on fresh diamonds compared to worn broken-in diamonds.

A contract negotiation was done and needs to be met.

I was extremely looking forward to this matchup and was ready to pay up to watch...so I'm disappointed, but I'm certainly not going to fault Jayson or Justin on this one.

Yea but not for 20k gambling ;-)

thats a whole different ball game

The point he was making was that some here are saying Jayson is not on his A game and we witnessed him take SVB right out of a finals appearance where SVB was undefeated and shooting lights out.

That's certainly A game elite level and only 23 days ago. Jayson also played well in the Bigfoot:
Jayson Shaw (.927) d. Konrad Juszczyszyn (.690) 11-2

That's some heavy fire power on a ten foot table just last week. Saying Jayson is scared of a table or not on his best game is not that accurate.

(Thanks AtLarge for the stats off the Bigfoot thread)

Justin did say he would play on any table in the place. Jayson's choice. Also, it is my understanding that there was not new cloth in the table they were going to be playing on. Dayne made a comment back in December saying the pockets were going to be 4 1/8 with broken in cloth.

I think I have read all that is to be read on this from both sides …. my summation is that JS found a pretty weak excuse to back out of this match .. for whatever reason. Too bad... I was really really excited to watch this one....

I think we should safely be able to make the assumption that if a set of rails tops was switched to this particular table to achieve the right size pockets to satisfy JS, they would have installed new Simonis cloth on the rails to match the new bed cloth.

I would absolutely NOT think that. I think the top would be the same on the new table as it was on the table it came off of.

And to this issue: Can't go through life 2nd guessing other's intentions. Little secret: they don't give a fukc about you, when it comes down to go time.

It jaysons money and nobody should expect to dictate how he plays it. He doesn't want to get in ther ring. His choice.

But there should have been some sort of written agreement, given the amount of effort devoted to the match up.

Amateur hour in the pool room. Ssdd.

I'll say it right here. If you're preparing to play on a normal table and then get a tight table dumped on you when you arrive - you are not prepared!

This was an obvious move from the other side.

I think most of you have never played before.
Jason

Yeah 2nd time I've booked room for a week , drove 900 miles ... Play pool everyday of your life Mr Shaw and scared of a tight table ! Lol .... First the Vivian tournament now this event got me , but not a 3rd I promise! ..... I'll admit it sounds like a move for sure but at the end of the day every table is different . Travel the country play strange tables with strangers for 500$ a game and adjust .... That's why I was betting Justin the Road Dog !!!!!
