These circumstances compel one to quote, as well as contemplate, Bill once more:

Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears;
I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him.
The evil that men do lives after them;
The good is oft interred with their bones;
So let it be with Caesar. The noble Brutus
Hath told you Caesar was ambitious:
If it were so, it was a grievous fault,
And grievously hath Caesar answer’d it.
Here, under leave of Brutus and the rest–
For Brutus is an honourable man;
So are they all, all honourable men–
Come I to speak in Caesar’s funeral.
He was my friend, faithful and just to me:
But Brutus says he was ambitious;
And Brutus is an honourable man.
He hath brought many captives home to Rome
Whose ransoms did the general coffers fill:
Did this in Caesar seem ambitious?
When that the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept:
Ambition should be made of sterner stuff:
Yet Brutus says he was ambitious;
And Brutus is an honourable man.
You all did see that on the Lupercal
I thrice presented him a kingly crown,
Which he did thrice refuse: was this ambition?
Yet Brutus says he was ambitious;
And, sure, he is an honourable man.
I speak not to disprove what Brutus spoke,
But here I am to speak what I do know.
You all did love him once, not without cause:
What cause withholds you then, to mourn for him?
O judgment! thou art fled to brutish beasts,
And men have lost their reason. Bear with me;
My heart is in the coffin there with Caesar,
And I must pause till it come back to me.

The best thing Billy can do is be quiet and show by his actions your not that guy anymore..Words will not get the video seen with eyes out of peoples heads...Don't make excuses or keep making comments...Just go on and do your thing and people will see you learned from this,and evidently forget...Keep making comments and it will never go away....We learn from our mistakes...We all make them...This is how life works....

Outbursts like that are what makes a rather mundane game fun again.
I've seen things like that and worse in person in pool rooms.
I once saw a professional tennis instructor chase and throw pool balls at guy all around the room.
The reason I mention tennis is this guy had some arm on him.
It was great.

Very disappointed to read this. It reads like he has no contrition for his actions and is absolving himself of blame. In truth Billy has been widely supported within the pool community, especially so in this country and on this forum.

I'm wondering whether Billy's account was hacked here, as it seems very unlikely he'd have posted this. If he did, it's very regrettable, and brings his remorse into serious doubt. Very sad to learn if true.

The truth is that Billy gets a lot of positive feedback here on AZB. In my writeup of the 2020 Derby City Classic, I offered "I’ll remember this Derby for three things a) Thorpe’s sustained excellence, b) the Orcullo comeback to capture Master of the Table, and c) Lee Vann Corteza topping Filler in both the Bigfoot and again in the 9-ball final, the crowning moments of his wonderful week at the Derby." That's a lot of respect for Billy right there, and certainly not merely a whisper.

Billy has always been very well liked in AZB circles, but he embarrassed himself, his sponsor and his sport with his recent tirade, and doesn't seem to want to blame himself for the consequences of his actions.

If this is genuinely Billy, and I suspect it is since it is in line with his initial response, he is digging himself in deeper all the time. There seems to be a very small percentage of haters but when he seems to label everyone who disagrees with his actions haters he is going to quickly move people from the tolerant and mildly supportive camp to a group that doesn't support Billy at all. It doesn't really matter if his issues are youth, alcohol, or other things entirely, he can quickly dig himself a hole he can't climb out of.

No fun being seen as the villain but this can easily turn from an isolated incident to a real indictment of Billy's character. Again assuming this is Billy's doing, he needs somebody that cares to steer him back from the edge or this single pot hole is gonna become nine miles of bad road.

For his own good Billy needs to take his lumps and let this thing die.

Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars, and say "These wounds I had on Crispin's day."

I know that the worst wounds of one's life are self inflicted. With no one else to blame, we suffer twice -- first, from the initial insult and second from the ignominy of having so injured ourselves.
Billy, I read, is young. Time will pass, and he will survive all of this, but I hope no more. Believe me, there is value in bad conduct; so long as no one is killed and no law involved, really driving your life up on the rocks can lead to self examination and real growth. So, Billy, look hard within, and do not turn from what you find. Be honest and bring everything within to bear, and you can walk free from this a better man.

he looks like a hot head and acted like one. so that is the story in my book. so what if he shoots pool great. if you judge him on that its an a+. character at least in this case f-. the getting mad is one thing the violence part raises it to another level.

pro's need to be videoed to keep in the spotlight to get endorsements. that can work both ways. in this case it went real bad for him and his future.

This will all blow over...
Expect real soon he's with another big sponsor...who sees their opportunity.

If I had to bet...Meucci with his hillbilly brother Sky.

The self righteousness on this forum is truly astounding. I guess I ought to be glad I never got good enough to be a well known pro. I’d have been crucified by you people. And if I published half the crap I know on some of the most beloved pros over the last 30 years they would be too. I wonder how people would react to knowing the name of one of the most respected pro players alive who asked a shortstop from Oklahoma—in the middle of a tournament no less—if he had any cocaine and when the guy said no (because he didn’t do drugs) he replied, “Well what f—cking good are you?!” Or another one who when in private loves to rail on minorities, referring to them by a dictionary of racial slurs? Or (as I mentioned in another thread) my old mentor (rest his soul) who introduced me to qualudes when I was a teen and was known for one his favorite lines, “I just pop a green and a blue and a yellow and wait for the glow.” He is idolized by everyone on this forum. I watched a US Open winner who’s considered by many to be the greatest nine ball player ever completely lose it over CHALK at a tournament in OKC. He actually assaulted the other player by hitting him in the face with the cube of chalk. He wasn’t even removed from the tournament. I could go on. I’ve seen multiple pros do worse than anything Billy is being canceled for (and yes that IS what is happening). And many of you guys have too. I know damn well Jay has seen shit from pros that would likely entail jail time if it was known. I’ll tell you what makes Billy different. He committed the unpardonable sin: he got caught on camera. Personally I hope he stands his ground and tells everybody to go know themselves in the King James Bible sense. He’s gonna be ruined anyway so at least he can have the pride of keeping his balls intact. Then all you self righteous virtue signaling hypocrites can get what you deserve: one less great American pro on the way to a dead sport.

I don't believe in cancel culture. But that's not what this is about. Quite simply we have different standards today than we did in the 60s and 70s.

The behavior you outlined above wouldn't be tolerated today. I find it interesting this would be considered anything other than progress. We need to protect people's rights to buy drugs or commit assault?

While I don’t do drugs, yes I believe people should be allowed to. And as for assault: 1. Two men should be able to settle their differences with fists if they so choose. To deny that right is not progress but rather it’s opposite. It is the arrogance of modernity that sees our miserable ways as superior to how men have settled matters for millennia. 2. To my knowledge no one was physically harmed by Billy. I’ve seen worse on the playground from children. I personally believe Robb should have whipped his ass if Billy was indeed completely in the wrong and that such would have done the young man much more good than anything that has either happened to him so far or that is being promoted by the virtue signaling eunuchs on this forum. Every man should have his ass whipped at least once in his life. It is humbling and builds character.

it isnt all about what he did being over board or not, even though it certainly was. it is about the perception of the public and what they think. and if a company condones this behvior or looks the other way it reflects on them badly. so they have no choice but to drop him from their lineup.

and for him not to apologize and let it go makes it very hard for another company in the near future to use him.
its called cutting your own throat.
