I Am not sure of the exact year but it is within like the last 10 or so years, there was a guy here on Long Island who could run 100 balls in like 10 minutes and he actually made a tape of it and marketed it .

Does anyone here know who this was and have the footage?

Thanks
Steve

I would like to see 100 in 10 minutes. That person must be a 9ball style player.

I would love to see footage of Luc Salvas, Earl, or Tony Drago playing Straight Pool as well.

Hmmm, Pete Fisher?

Btw, it's a little hard to believe. 10 minutes is less than 90 seconds per rack, which is about five seconds a ball after racking time. Was he waiting for the balls to stop moving - or just shooting when the cueball stopped?

I would imagine there's a lower limit on what is possible for a 100-ball run, timewise. 15 minutes sounds do-able. 10 doesn't. :)

P.S. I'm not saying it didn't happen; I'm just saying I'd like to see it lol.

I would love to see Earl shooting straight pool as well. He told me his high run was in the 400's last year.

Id be interested t see if he was including racking time? I think when I tried it a few times I had 45 in other 5 mins but I thought 50 in 5 minutes was possible - 100 in ten certainly wasn't possible for me, unless paramedics where on hand! :)

I think somebody mentioned Salvas had 150 and out in a stupid time some years back, that would be ncie to see.

There was an interesting anecdote in Willie Mosconi's autobiography where it mentions how Willie had a match to play in New York, but he also had tickets to an 8:00 pm Broadway show that he didn't want to miss. I don't have the book in front of me to reference, but he had to play the match and get in his seat in some ridiculous amount of time like 45 minutes.

Maybe someone has the book and can look it up? My copy is packed away for awhile.

Isn't "Machine Gun" Lou Butera famous for running 150 and out in a major match in 21 minutes?

Against Allen Hopkins in 1973. CB Kelly who refed the match said that it was closer to 18 minutes.

That sounds ridiculous but when you see Lou in action, it's just amazing. He even keeps the chalk in his bridge hand all the time, very efficient :)

Maybe Dave Pearson. He made a tape but I can't remember any specifics. He comes in second in the Speed Pool championship the last couple years to Bobby McGraff... from these neck o da woods... just down the road a piece.

I Believe mr lipsky is right! not sure if it was exactly 10 minutes but it was a fast 100, and he was marketing it that way!

Thanks For Refreshing my memory

I hate to admit I watched some of that speed pool on ESPN and they were breaking & running racks of 15 balls in a 1:00-1:20. That doesn't include racking, so let's add 0:15 for that (more if it was drop pockets). That's at best 14 balls per 1:15.

You would need 7 full racks plus two (starting from a break shot)...so 7 x 1:15 + 2 balls = 8:45 + 2 balls....about 9 minutes. I suppose it could be done, but GD THAT'S A FEAT!! The ESPN guys were sprinting around the table!

Mosconiac, those rules also allow you to shoot as long as the cueball has stopped. Other moving balls are OK.

And all this is to say nothing about playing to an end-rack pattern. I'm not saying it would all have to be brilliantly thought out but you do have to leave SOMETHING workable for the end lol.

Finally, you also have to not miss. That speed pool garbage - they're missing at least one in every four shots.

I say 10 minutes is not doable.

There is a google video of Ortmann against the Miz where he runs 100 in roughly 20 mins (i remember watching the time counter). Its insane.

justin.

This is Ronnie O'Sullivan running the world record 147. Took 5 minutes for 36 balls... So, x's this by 3 and that would be the fastest 100 ball run. 15 + minutes. Unless the guy was potting them 2 at a time. I could see someone running 100 balls in 10 minutes but not using the rules of 14.1.

You raise a good point there, I think the only way would be to start with the two balls and then run 7 racks, and this is probably still impossible. I think my video shows 50 in 5mins is possible as I wasted a bit of time, Im so unfit, and I racked my own.

Keeping that up for ten mins, I don't know, maybe if its the only thing you tried for 6months but it would be some acheivment!

Sigel confirmed that while doing commentary on an IPT match. He was there and saw it.

Stevie,

You should remember the tape that i am referring to, Danny was selling it around the time that you were going to leisure time. I remember Charlie Gaibel used to talk about fischer all the time, and i maybe wrong about the time of 10 minutes. But it was being sold as the fastest run of 100 balls.

Oh and by the way Beau Bear is gonna be a daddy!
