Accustats has as special, 10 dvd's for 100. I was going to spend $40 on the two Rempe instructionals, but now due to the special, I plan on spending 100 for 10 dvds. Here is my list so far:

1. Rempe How to run 100 balls
2. Rempe How to run a rack in straight pool
3. Rempe vs San Soussi match (Player review)
4. Strickland vs Ervolino (I saw this on youtube before it got taken down yrs ago, and loved Ervolino's style)

I need 6 more videos.

If anyone know of any with Ervolino commentating, I'd like them. I did a search on accu-stats, and could not figure out which matches he was commentating.

I also found a 4 dvd set of Pat Fleming instructional dvd series. Anyone have that? What did you think?

Dallas West Mike Zuglan 1992 has Ervolino, Bill Staten, and Grady Matthews. Excellent game and Excellent commentary.

Mike Zuglan and Mike Sigel 1992 is also a must have. 150 and out. Staten and Matthews.

Rempe and Hopkins 1992 is a must see from the same tournament with Matthews and Jack Colavita doing the commentary. Great match. Plenty of bumping balls into break balls, close position, very entertaining.

Ralf Souquet and Efren Reyes with Nick Varner and Billy Incardona from 2000 is a good match.

Dick Lane Johnny Archer player review from 1992 is also a must see.

2009 Oliver Ortmann Earl Herring 150 and out player review or the 2010 Mika Immonen Mike Sigel 150 and out player review .

I might dump the Ervolino Strickland if I was only buying 10, but it is ok.

Thanks all, keep them coming.

The thing I liked about the Strickland ervolino match was ervolino seemed to play the racks from the inside out. I might be imagining what I saw, as it was 3 or 4 yrs ago before I made 14.1 my main game.

The Rempe/Ortmann match from 2000 is great as well, Oliver runs 126 and Rempe comes almost all the way back after getting a number of bad rolls in his comeback run. He still runs 96-

If you call accustats there is a good chance you can talk directly to Pat Fleming. He is a pro level 14.1 player and can give you the best advice.

John Schmidt

John Schmidts 100 Ball run with player review is also excellent.

Mizerak?

Hi,
No mention of any Steve Mizerak matches.
Does anyone have a recommendation for an Accu Stat DVD of Steve?
Are there any recorded matches of Steve playing in the early '70s, when he was in his prime?

Thanks,
Dave

I have a couple Steve Mizerak matches. One is his finals match in the 1989 US Open 14.1 against Oliver Ortmann. Neither player plays well but there is good back and forth. The other is a match from 1992 against a young Johnny Archer that isn't bad.

This is a must have IMHO (2009 Oliver Ortmann Earl Herring 150 and out player review )

I had all these and they are must haves for the straight pool school of thought and play.

I recomend any 14.1 match video with Jose Garcia in it.

Jose was a Tactical Surgeon when it came to chipping away at a rack/cluster

I have a 3 DVD set of Pat Fleming instructional straight pool videos and they're very good.

I would be sure to include any efren matches from the 95 maine event. He had only begun to play 14.1, obviously picked it up quickly. You can see some very creative playing in his matches that I feel would provide the viewer with some thought patterns not found in other matches.

I have a Mika/Ortmann match (not sure which year) that I really like. A decent amount of safety battles in this one.

Lots of great recommendations in this thread. Try to get your hands on a Nick Varner match in which he runs some balls, too. Nick is one of the better managers of the table in the history of 14.1.

I have a challenge match featuring Nick against Grady. Great match!. Grady breaks, Nick runs 76 and misses. Grady runs out the rack and then misses, Nick runs 74 and out.

Not sure how hard it will be find but, I spent the summer of 1989 taking private lessons from Ray Martin & he had just completed a video on 14.1. I wish I had purchased one but I was so busy with my weekly lessons I figured I could always get one later. That was the last time I saw it for sale but I'm sure somebody has one that could be converted to DVD.
