Do they actually put cloth on pool tables in TEXAS....with all the tables I've seen in TX....it can make you wonder a little:thumbup:
 
Now Glen, you know that I have cloth on my 9ft table here in Dallas because I've got the only cobracized Gold Crown in Texas! :) More importantly Runout1961 I'm looking to buy a centennial so the table is for sale for the right price. I put simonis 860 HR on my table and love the way it plays.

Is your table an 8ft or 9ft? I can only fit an 8ft in this house

I have the Brunswick Centennial cloth on my table. It plays nice but after two years of regular daily play, it is starting to get some holes in it mostly where the cloth is turned down at the pockets.
 
I agree that Simonides is the best. Championship is good too though...a pool room I played at had it and it was perfectly acceptable, as I recall.

I will say that the championship played a bit more grabby to me, but that could be largely related to the install job. Hell if I know.

For the little extra$, you gotta go with the best. Cloth lasts for a long time and the saving found by choosing something other than simonis is minimal over time.
 
I have 860 on my 8' Brunswick Anniversary. And I would never even consider using anything else. I have always preferred the original over the copycats.
 
Perhaps consider 860 in the Blue/Green. It really gives a retro look to an Anniversary or Centennial.

I personally think S. Blue looks really out of place on an antique table. The Blue/Green is a nice compromise...
 
simonis 860 hr all the way; not only because of their quality, which is tops, but also because they are major sponsors for our sport. :thumbup:

Go with same type of cloth that is the same as the type on tables at pool hall you regularly go to, critical IMO

I just moved my old table to my new home which has a room large enough for it (my old home had a room that wasn't wide enough and I had to have a wall cue with a few winches cut off if you ended up against the rail to shoot with a level cue) and I chose Simonis 860 HR Tournament Blue and I couldn't be happier with it. I had a Simonis knock-off (green) cloth on it originally and there's no comparison with the look and play if you have the real Simonis cloth. I'm sure the other cloths you are asking about are good, but my choice would be Simonis.
 
I would encourage you to check out the Strachan SuperPro (formerly Milliken).

We recently did some side by side comparisons between this and Simonis.

We document the look of the cloth for the first 4 months it was on tables in a high-traffic pool room.

Aside from the fact that Simonis has proven to last longer than most competitors and is the most popular, I'm going to state the obvious. First, you want your home table to play like other tables you may find yourself competing on. If that's the case, you want Simonis. Second, any other cloth you get, all you're going to do is hope that it's just like Simonis and if it's not, you're going to be disappointed so why set yourself up for disappointment? Third, this is your home table. There's a strong likelihood you'll go years without re-clothing. In the grand scheme of things, how much more will Simonis cost you? $20/year? $10/year? If you love this game, get the very best. Maybe you have to wait an extra week or month to re-cloth or buy new balls or get the table you want but five years from now, you'll be happy you made that choice.

For home and residential use, go with the simonis,
For commercial use, pool hall ect.....i like champion T.E..
We have had both in our room,.....from what we experienced champion wears better and thus...lasts longer.
Unless recovering your med/high volume banger tables every 2-5 years w/simonis as opposed to about 5 or more w/champion ."with proper care" isnt a factor financially.

The playing differences between the two are not that different, same blend of materials. its the "weave " i guess that sets them apart.

And the factors Jude and others pointed out as far as trying to replicate your "playing out" conditions may be best suited for you if your that kind of player.

and go GREEN :thumbup:

Yeah, I can't speak for poolrooms that aren't re-clothing their tables routinely. IMO, no table should go over 1,000 hours of use without new cloth. You might be able to stretch it to 1,500 or 2,000 hours but you're really looking at a rag at that point.
 
I'm going to do the Simonis 860 for sure. That's what I had on both of my home tables in the past and I loved it. I was just curious about the others.

I like Simonis. I went with 860 tournament green just cause it seems like the right color for a Gold Crown.
