A Letter from Mike Dechaine

Your Vote for the MC team, what year are you speaking of, as no one voted this year.
Are you speaking of the threads where people were naming who they wanted on the team even though many of those weren't even on the eight man list of possibles?

Dear, Itsfroze.
There was no vote, per se.
If you read my reply above correctly you will notice I placed quotes around the word vote.
I feel as if you are doing what many on here often do—"attack" one another.
It's easy to let it slide however, especially when I read your own post and you don't even spellcheck yourself. (what is 'possibles?).

Take it easy my fellow poster and simply enjoy. :)

Mike is the only human I've ever met with a larger head than myself.

Look at the size of that boy's heed. I'm not kidding, it's like an orange on a toothpick. That's a huge noggin. That's a virtual planetoid. Has it's own weather system. I'm not kidding, that boy's head is like Sputnik; spherical but quite pointy at parts! Now that was offside, wasn't it? He'll be crying himself to sleep tonight, on his huge pillow.

HEEEEED!!!! PANTS!!! NOW!!!!!

Actually, "possible" is both an adjective and a noun. The plural of the noun is "possibles."

I think our best chance to defeat the Euros was to assign you as the designated racker.
However,I think that ship has sailed and now we have to resort to skills and harmony.

But who wants to win that way anyway?

You're either a class act, or not. You're not.

Wow! talk about steaming piles of crap.

MD comes on AZ and posts a mature, professional reply to an obviously difficult personal/public situation, and these are the responses?

A lot of guys, who if they had anywhere near the amount of talent that Mike does, would just sit back and let their cue do the talking for them (and MD's stick has been doing some serious talking lately).

But instead, he has decided to post his thoughts in a sincere and candid way.

I think this takes an awful lot of courage knowing you are exposing yourself to potential ridicule and potshots from those who can't appreciate such a sincere gesture.

I'm proud of Mike for posting this message and I wish him all the best in pool and life.

Remember fellas, this isn't a guy who has gone around kicking dogs and slapping old ladies. He's a mega-talented young man who has admittedly let his emotions get the best of him on occasion, and he's working on it.

With regard to the MC team selections, I personally thought Mark Wilson could have at least given Mike a chance to prove himself worthy to be included before closing the door on him, but apparently Mark thought otherwise and it's his call. Not second guessing but, as a fan, it's frustrating not to have the 2nd best rotation player in America on Team USA.

I appreciate the candor and classiness in your post, Mike.

Continued success to you.

I don't know enough about Mike to judge him either way.

I do know, that the group that went last time were doomed for failure, I said it before the event, and many folks gave me frowns. In the end, I was right. I am often wrong, but that was so obvious to even the most casual observer could have seen it coming.

Before the event, I suggested a few young players including Skyler and Landon, and looked at the event as a "rebuilding" year, similar to what is done in baseball. Those young players, certainly have the right attitude, and would have represented the USA, in the professional fashion that WE (poolplayers) deserve, to have represent US!

But what we had was a circus!

Again, I don't know enough about Mike to judge. I have seen positive comments from fans, and I have seen negative ones too. But being that you are 26 years old, I hope you get to represent on the Mosconi Cup Team, if you deserve it, in both play and attitude.

I wish you the best of rolls,

Ken

I thought it best to let a little time pass from when Mark Wilson announced his picks for the players he'll consider to be on this year's Mosconi Cup team.

To say my not making his list stung would be one of the biggest understatements ever.

There has been a lot of speculation as to why I was excluded but I think at this point, those reasons matter much less than the fact that I didn't make it on.

I have always been a player who wears his emotions on his sleeve for all to see. I am a fierce competitor and I feel like I have a real chance to win in every match I play. I know that I can be hard on myself, and others, during the heat of competition. I'm 26 years old.

Everyone has to face disappointments in their lives and I'm no different. I am learning, however, that how we respond to adversity can help define who we are. I'm working on better ways to channel my emotions toward the positive.

My plan going forward will be to stay positive while I keep trying to play the best pool of my life.

A big thank you to all who have supported me and to those who might not have, to them I say please keep an eye on me and maybe I will earn your support, as well. I promise I will try hard. I also want to thank Snookers, RI and OB cues, thank you guys for giving me a chance.

And the other biggest understatement ever:

I love pool!

Sincerely,
Mike Dechaine

Mike,

A real classy post, one that shows how you have matured over the years, congratulations on your recent success.

Best of luck in your future endeavors.

One of your many fans.

Alright Mike, are you having Clyde write for you or what?

Just kidding, buddy.
Excellent post and I hope you make it next year.
We all know you deserve it based on the way you play.

Regards,
Koop

Every journey starts with a first step ,, however actions speak louder than words so until he is in a spot where he might explode and doesn't there's no evidence he won't

Mark may have done the best thing anyone could have for him by not choosing ,
This has made Mike to look in the mirror and realize he accountable for his actions and he needs to change if he wants to be on the team and more importantly not to end up like Earl still acting like a child 20 yrs from now

Mark may be smarter than people are giving him credit for

However,I think that ship has sailed and now we have to resort to skills and harmony.

But who wants to win that way anyway?

Dechaine isn't the only guy doing that. I would prefer a rule stating you can't touch a ball after the rack loses contact with the balls.

I have no idea why Dechaine isn't on the team but I have a pretty good idea why a some of last year's guys aren't and it has nothing to do with their ability to play pool. This isn't Mark Wilson's first time at the rodeo.

Mike, this response shows strong character. Seeing that you've acquired a negative reputation, and feeling the sting of the consequences of that reputation, would cause a lot of people to respond with anger, bitterness, and defensiveness. You've chosen to respond with acceptance and increased resolve to behave positively and professionally and fix your reputation the right way. Follow through on your words, and the pool world will take notice and doors will reopen.

Mike...Again, very professional attitude you have presented here! Pool can only benefit from more pro players taking this tack. Best of luck in playing as great as you are! Keep up the good work!

As a person who has had the same emotional turmoil I can respect the post. I think with age and experience you can start to understand your faults and work on fixing them.

Wow, you just made the team next year. I got a hundred on that. my opinion don't count but that's character under any situation. You just proved you belong on the team . the team they are looking to build. The American player of the future. plus your name is all over the place lately usually u hear Shane Shane Shane but man your sponsors are getting the bang for their buck. Good luck.

Mike you are gonna be around longer than Mr. Wilson. He dropped the ball when he didn't pick you. Your are like a lot of players in the US, just behind SVB. You are currently the only young talent who can surpass SVB. I for one am pulling for you to do it. Just go on and shock the world.

People will always hate on you. You are young and talented. Jealousy takes many forms. Many backstabbing in pool. You aren't alone. Why people are pushing for clean cut emotional less drones to take over pro pool is beyond me. We need personalities in this game. Anybody that doesn't understand how competition and pressure change a person has no clue. A lot of haters Mike. Know you have more fans out there.

I expect if you just keep winning everything in the Northeast and a few big events you will be fine. Focus on your game, it will take care of you. Mr. Wilson will be one and done. Wonder who he will blame his failure on ? It won't be you anyway....

By the way if any of you were aware of the mountains of shi t that Mike has gone through in the past few years you may understand his attitude. Do you think aging , washed up and wannabe pros welcome a player of his talents into the tournament scene? Look when you become one of the top tier players, everybody below you moves down the list. Some of those guys can only resort to needling and backstabbing when their games can't hold up to his.

So in case anybody doesn't know it ...Mike Dechaine is the number 2 rotation player in the USA behind SVB. If you think anybody else deserves that spot I say bet...please.
