What a sad, disgusting, and bizarre end to the best event in the world that pool has to offer. Instead of a celebration of all that is good in pool to end it on this note is a travesty. 2011 Derby City Classic was such a joy for pool fans like me. With so many disciplines and the professionals who have taken the time to master their skills made this soul left in awe and reverence.
I had heard what a badboy Hennessee was but his performance over Lee Van Corteza was nothing short of brilliant and I had a new found respect for him. Neils Feijen attempted comeback over SVB was so awesome that I had wished somehow they both could come out winners. Shane VBs Onepocket win and Earls elevation of his talent just showed what made champions. Dennis Orcullos victory was just magnificent and who can forget Shannon the Cannons win over the best one pocket player in the world. It goes on and on.
But Alex is human. And what it reminded me was all the times that I had performed in such a way. The asinine and unruly behaviour that I had wanted to forget and hide in my deep dark closet. Too bad it happened in such a bright light.
Alex is an adult, not a child, and he is a pro, not an amateur. He should be judged in that way. But like I said he is a human. I will try to forgive. As I try to forgive myself. And hope those who I have betrayed will forgive me
.
But let us not forget the great things that happened at the Derby. And hope that it continues on.
Thank you for all those who made this experience for me a once in a lifetime one.
