I really like the direction that ABR is going in. It plans to cover a variety of interests in the pool world. They plan on interviewing various pool players, so that the public, who may not be familiar with them, will get to know their personalities, like what's their favorite shot or what do they like to do in their spare time when not playing pool or do they have a pet. This puts a personality into the mix, which is sorely missing in many pool venues these days.
The instructional advice given in the one-minute segments are very cool. Sometimes people may not be able to digest an entire hour lesson of pool, but if it's just one single thing they hear quickly and practice, it will stick with them. This is a good idea, I think.
Speaking to pool room owners, like this week's Hard Times owners, is also interesting to hear their thoughts on matters, some of which may have never entered my mind. I like this a lot. Pool room owners are struggling too, just like the rest of us in the pool world.
The promoters like Greg Sullivan, who wears two hats being the Diamond guy with the pool table expertise, is always pure gold, whatever comes out of his mouth. He knows pool inside and out. When he spoke about the pocket size, I had no idea so much was involved. It's a lot more than just narrowing the pockets. Greg is 'da man!
And for the cue aficionados, there will be upcoming guests that cover this area, cuemakers, cue collectors, et cetera. I'm looking forward to learning more about this area. I know very little about the art of cue-making. :frown:
I think what I like, too, is being able to listen to the broadcast when it's convenient to me. Each week will bring something new and exciting. I like this ABR radio so far. I'm looking forward to the coming weeks.
