An interesting find

I was searching through some torrents on my favorite site to see if they had anything on billiards when I came across Steve G Jones Winning Pool with Hypnosis.

I figured eh what the hell I'll give it a download. I haven't listened to it yet, but if anyone would like a copy just PM me and I'll get it to ya. It's 10.2 MB so I can't send it via email because of my email provider limitations, but I can get it to you via Yahoo messenger.

*edit* I promise not to tell ;)

Couldn't find it on ISO.

I got it off of Demonoid.

*edit* Just figured that I would post this because I have never heard of this for pool let alone having it be available to me. I know that hypnosis was used in basketball. I can't remember the team (I think the Knicks), but I do know they won the championship that year and hypnosis was banned after that.

Mike Massey tried it

Mike Massey says he has tried it. Seems like he tried it for a good while but I don't remember. Pretty sure he decided it came from the devil when he got religion. Regardless, it didn't seem to help his pool playing. Mike played pretty strong many years ago, still plays a decent game, but he never broke into the elite ranks. Hypnotism might let you give your best performance but I think there are other better ways to accomplish the same thing.

I am sure downloading products for free like this off bittorrent is gonna make others rush right out to create new products for our enjoyment.

After all, everyone loves giving the fruits of their labor to the world for free, right?

:D :D :D

Now I just have to work on finding someone to hypnotise me that I can trust not to empty my wallet, bank account, and all my assets. :)

Come to think of it....not sure winning that match is quite worth the risk of LOSING control of MY mind!!! Then again, I may have already!!

I also remember either St. Louie Louie, or Jimmy Reid years ago talking about being hyptnotized.

I listened to this a while ago. It seemed more on target for relaxing someone to put them to sleep. You are warned not to listen to it while driving, etc. It's a lot of relaxation exercises with subliminal suggestions. I didn't find it particularly helpful.

It was Louie. Maybe Jimmy Reid also, but definitely Louie. It was something he listened to every day, on a regular basis for some time, I believe.

I bought hypnosis tapes years ago. I think they were called "Overcoming Contenderosis" or something like that.

I listen to them religiously for a few months straight. I don't remember if they helped or not  .

Maybe aimed at helping you relax and focus. Subliminal may contain trigger points to help you achieve this.
Example. As soon as you pick up a pool cue, you will jump up on the table like
Earl Strickland, rip off your clothes and dance like a madman, gyrating wildly while riding your pool cue.
Mission accomplished, you're a master, everyone is afraid to play you.

I purchased a subliminal cd from EBay called Cue Your Brain, Rule the Table.
It was a cheap purchase in case it just may be bogus. As an afterthought, if it is subliminal, how do you actually know what is on the cd. Probably the subliminal words repeated over and over.
"You are an idiot for thinking that listening to a cd will make you a better pool player, now go back to our website and buy, buy, buy".

Actually there are very very few billiard downloads out there. For the most part the things you can get are already on YouTube or any of the other video hosting sites.

Oh well...I guess since people are pirating pool material and putting it on Youtube, that makes it okay..

*wink* :D :D :D

I think anyone who is considering this should view Penn and Teller's episode of Bullshit (on showtime) about hypnosis.

I'll save you the trouble of watching this informative entertaining show by telling you that..... you guessed it......It's bullshit

You can buy hypno tapes for everything from quitting smoking to growing larger penis/breasts.

If you want positive feedback do it for yourself, it's much more meaningful and rewarding than listening to a generic tape tell you that you can play your best pool. How does the hyponotist know?

Either you got it or you don't. If you got it, you don't need the tape. If you don't, work harder and tell yourself that you can get it, or accept where you are, or take 2 weeks off and then quit...

Now

Looook into my eyes......

You are getting sleeepy, :boring:

sleeeeeepppppyyyyy

:boring2: :boring2:

Now listen to my voice. When you here the balls break you will

Bark like a dogs!

Now when I clap my hands, you will awake feeling refreshed with no memory of this post...

:clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

That would be my good friend, Ryan Elliot. In the late 1980's and early 1990's he was marketing the Dead Stroke Tapes and Overcoming Contenderosis. Ryan also offers a one week intensive at his office in Winfield, Illinois.

Ryan is still available to assist pool players. If anyone is interested in contacting Ryan, shoot me a PM.

A few years ago, Ryan signed over the rights to the Overcoming Contenderosis Series to Bob Henning - and they are available at this website.

I'll say 'he tried it'!;)

From: http://www.zoominfo.com/people/Massey_Larry_391139623.aspx

Even today, Massey believes he experienced a very real, albeit dangerous, communion with the supernatural during that period of his life.

"I started acquiring ESP," Massey says.
...
This headlong plunge into the mystic came to a twisted end in a bar in Colorado when, unbeknownst to Massey, another pool player spiked his drink with LSD, the likes of which he had never experienced before.

"I was playing this guy for $50 a game, and all of a sudden I start looking at the ceiling, thinking I could think the balls into the pockets," Massey says.
...
The night ended with Massey in a jail cell; the week ended with his transfer to a psychiatric ward.

Larry Massey hadn't heard from his younger brother in five years when he received the phone call from a Denver hospital."They asked me if I knew Mike Massey, then they told me they had picked him up walking the streets," Larry says.

Larry wired money, and Mike flew home.
...
"He was out of it for a year," Larry says."He'd tell people that he could walk on water, and he'd argue that he could do these different things if he just prayed the right way."

Pat McDonald remembers a seemingly dazed Massey drifting into his father's pool hall in Knoxville on occasion.
...
It was a full year before Massey made significant progress in overcoming the effects of the drugging. His recovery was sped along by the revelation that his experience had indeed been the result of a spiked drink, a fact unknown to him until an old road buddy called him after belatedly discovering the truth.

"It was kind of a relief that came over me," Massey says."Because in the back of my mind, I'm seeing all this stuff, hallucinating and hearing voices, and I don't know whether it's real or what. When I heard that I had taken LSD, I could say to myself, 'Well, I'm not just crazy. The reason I'm seeing all this stuff is because of the drug.'"

Mike still has some ideas

Mike still has some interesting ideas that he can do whatever he wants to. When I saw him a few years ago he was headed to the mideast for a couple of weeks soon afterwards. He planned to sign every autograph, "Jesus loves you, Mike Massey"!!

Apparently someone convinced him just how bad an idea that was, never heard any more about it. (image below)

To those of you who asked me to send this to you I am sorry if you didn't get it. I did send it to everyone who asked, but if your email server won't allow an email of that size it didn't go through. I also deleted all the PMs and emails so I couldn't send one out if it didn't go through.

If you would still like the file I have compressed it down to below 10mb in .rar format so it should go to most servers. Just PM me again if you didn't get it and I'll get it out to you.

On a side note I don't believe that this can be sent to Yahoo mail because it is still 9mb. I am fairly sure gmail (Google email) can receive it because that is the server I've been using to send it out.
